    Abstract

The development of technology in education requires teachers to provide interactive learning media in order to increase student participation. Initial observations at SMKN 2 Bandung showed that the participation of grade X students in the Visual Communication Design program was still low because teachers tended to use conventional media in the form of monotonous PowerPoint presentations. This condition made students less actively engaged in the learning process. This study aimed to examine the effect of using ClassPoint as an interactive multimedia tool on improving student participation, particularly in the aspects of responding to teacher instructions and student initiative, as well as to identify the challenges faced by teachers in its implementation. The research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach using the Non-Equivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sampling technique applied was saturated sampling, involving all classes: one experimental class using ClassPoint, one control class using PowerPoint, and an additional class for instrument testing. The research instruments consisted of a student participation questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, as well as a teacher constraint questionnaire. The results showed a significant difference in student participation between the experimental and control groups. The experimental class experienced an increase with an average N-Gain of 0.79 (high category), while the control class only achieved 0.03 (low category). The main challenges faced by teachers included limited time to prepare materials, limited internet connectivity, and the need to adapt to ClassPoint features. Thus, ClassPoint has proven to be effective in enhancing student participation, although adequate infrastructure and teacher training are required for more optimal implementation.
