Abstract
This study was motivated by the researcher's interest in reproductive health issues related to menstruation, especially for the blind. This is because reproductive health during menstruation is very important to be understood and implemented by the blind, in order to avoid diseases and other disorders during menstruation. This study aims to describe the picture of reproductive health in the blind during menstruation. The research method used was a qualitative research design with a descriptive phenomenological category. The subject of this study was the blind, with the researcher as the sole subject. Data collection was obtained from self-interviews and self-exploration, including the researcher's experiences regarding knowledge and behavior regarding reproductive health during menstruation in blind individuals. Data analysis was conducted using thematic content analysis. The research results indicate that researchers understand reproductive health during menstruation, including the menstrual process, types of sanitary napkins, and the risks of using sanitary napkins for too long. Selecting the right sanitary napkin and comfortable underwear is also important to prevent problems such as dysmenorrhea. Blind people face difficulties accessing information due to a lack of services. Researchers' behaviors include understanding how to use, change, and wash sanitary napkins. Hygiene is crucial to prevent infection, such as changing sanitary napkins every 3-4 hours. Proper care of used sanitary napkins is crucial to maintain cleanliness and avoid negative impacts on the environment. The researchers' experiences at the beginning of menstruation revealed errors in sanitary napkin use due to a lack of guidance. Therefore, parents, especially mothers, need to educate their children from an early age. The findings of this study indicate that correct and appropriate knowledge and behavior play a crucial role in shaping positive attitudes toward reproductive health during menstruation among blind women. Comprehensive and sustainable health education interventions regarding reproductive health are needed. This education should be tailored to the needs of blind women and involve various stakeholders, including families, schools, and health workers.
