Abstract
Keputusan melanjutkan pendidikan ke perguruan tinggi merupakan pilihan penting yang memengaruhi karier dan kualitas sumber daya manusia suatu negara. Partisipasi pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia masih rendah, dengan Tingkat Partisipasi Kasar (APK) 2022 sebesar 31,45%, jauh dari target 50% pada 2045. Dalam konteks ini, Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) dan lingkungan teman sebaya menjadi faktor penting yang dapat memengaruhi keputusan mahasiswa untuk melanjutkan studi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat FoMO, lingkungan teman sebaya, dan keputusan mahasiswa untuk melanjutkan studi serta menganalisis pengaruh FoMO dan lingkungan teman sebaya terhadap keputusan tersebut. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan metode ex post facto, sedangkan data dikumpulkan melalui penyebaran angket. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Teknik Bangunan, Teknik Sipil, Pendidikan Teknik Arsitektur, dan Arsitektur di FPTI Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, dengan sampel sebanyak 166 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa FoMO dan lingkungan teman sebaya berada pada kategori kuat, sedangkan keputusan melanjutkan studi tergolong sangat kuat. Analisis regresi mengungkapkan bahwa FoMO dan lingkungan teman sebaya secara signifikan memengaruhi keputusan mahasiswa, baik secara parsial maupun simultan, dengan pengaruh dominan berasal dari lingkungan teman sebaya, menegaskan pentingnya keseimbangan antara tekanan sosial digital dan dukungan sosial nyata dalam membimbing keputusan pendidikan mahasiswa. The decision to pursue higher education is a crucial choice that affects students’ careers and the quality of human resources in a country. Higher education participation in Indonesia remains low, with a Gross Enrollment Rate (GER) of 31.45% in 2022, far below the government’s target of 50% by 2045. In this context, Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and peer environment are important factors that may influence students’ decisions to continue their studies. This study aims to describe the levels of FoMO, peer environment, and students’ decisions to pursue higher education, as well as to analyze the influence of FoMO and peer environment on these decisions. A quantitative ex post facto approach was used, with data collected through questionnaires. The population consisted of students in Building Engineering Education, Civil Engineering, Architecture Engineering Education, and Architecture programs at FPTI Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, with a sample of 166 students. The results show that FoMO and peer environment are at a strong level, while the decision to continue studies is very strong. Regression analysis indicates that both FoMO and peer environment significantly influence students’ decisions, both partially and simultaneously, with peer environment exerting a more dominant effect, emphasizing the importance of balancing digital social pressure and real-life social support in guiding students’ educational choices.
