    Abstract

Cash waqf is regarded as a strategic Islamic financial instrument capable of empowering the ummah’s economy and strengthening Islamic philanthropic foundations. However, public participation remains significantly below its potential, with realization reaching only 1.28% of the estimated national waqf capacity. This low engagement is not solely due to limited literacy but is also shaped by inadequate behavioral control, weak positive attitudes, and insufficient influence of social norms. Even among young individuals with formal religious education, the intention to participate in cash waqf is not necessarily strong. This study aims to analyze the influence of waqf knowledge, attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on the intention to donate cash waqf, and to examine the mediating role of attitude between knowledge and intention. The research adopts a quantitative approach with survey data collected from 300 alumni of Madrasah Aliyah in the Greater Bandung area, selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Descriptive results indicate that waqf knowledge and subjective norms are at a moderate level, while attitudes, perceived behavioral control, and intention are at high levels. Hypothesis testing reveals that attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control significantly influence intention, while knowledge has no direct effect but exerts an indirect influence through attitude. These findings highlight that cognitive understanding alone is insufficient to drive behavioral intention without fostering a positive disposition. This study strengthens the applicability of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) in the context of cash waqf and provides practical insights for more targeted and effective educational and promotional strategies.
