Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami pandangan ibu terhadap praktik sharenting pada anak usia dini ditinjau dari kategori kelas sosial ekonomi, khususnya pada aspek pemahaman, motivasi, sikap, serta pertimbangan dalam membagikan informasi atau momen anak di media sosial. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap enam ibu yang mewakili dua kategori kelas sosial ekonomi berdasarkan klasifikasi Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), yakni kelas menengah dan kelompok menuju kelas menengah. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teknik analisis tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan kelas sosial ekonomi tidak menimbulkan perbedaan signifikan dalam pandangan ibu terhadap praktik sharenting. Baik kelas menengah maupun menuju menengah memandang sharenting sebagai praktik yang wajar, dengan motivasi utama mendokumentasikan tumbuh kembang anak. Perbedaan hanya tampak pada intensitas serta strategi penerapan, mulai dari proteksi penuh, berbagi dengan seleksi dan batasan, hingga berbagi sederhana. Faktor kelas sosial ekonomi lebih berpengaruh pada aspek pengelolaan keuangan keluarga dan akses teknologi, namun tidak mengubah esensi pandangan ibu mengenai pentingnya menjaga privasi anak. Penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan teori kelas sosial ekonomi BPS sebagai dasar klasifikasi serta teori Uses and Gratifications untuk menjelaskan motivasi penggunaan media digital. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi masukan bagi orang tua, pendidik, maupun pembuat kebijakan dalam meningkatkan literasi digital serta kesadaran akan hak privasi anak agar praktik sharenting dilakukan secara lebih bijak. This study aims to explore mothers’ perspectives on the practice of sharenting in early childhood, examined from the lens of socio-economic class. The focus lies on mothers’ understanding, motivation, attitudes, and considerations when sharing their children’s information or moments on social media. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews involving six mothers representing two socio-economic categories based on the Central Statistics Agency classification: the middle class and the lower-middle group. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that socio-economic class does not produce significant differences in mothers’ views on sharenting. Both groups regard sharenting as a common practice, primarily motivated by the desire to document their children’s development. Differences only emerged in terms of intensity and strategies, ranging from full protection, selective sharing with boundaries, to simple and spontaneous sharing. Socio-economic background influenced financial management and access to technology but did not alter the essential view of the importance of protecting children’s privacy. The study applies BPS socio-economic class theory as the basis for classification and the Uses and Gratifications theory to explain parents’ motivations in digital media use. These findings are expected to contribute to parents, educators, and policymakers in raising digital literacy and awareness so that sharenting practices can be carried out more wisely while safeguarding children’s rights to privacy.
