    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan berbicara siswa sekolah dasar kelas IV. Kurangnya media pembelajaran menjadi salah satu penyebab siswa kurang aktif dalam kegiatan berbicara di kelas. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran berupa Big Book bertema lingkungan dengan pendekatan CTL untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas IV. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Design and Development (D&D) dengan model ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar validasi, observasi, wawancara, dan tes. Partisipan penelitian ini terdiri dari 18 siswa kelas IV di salah satu sekolah dasar di Kabupaten Garut, ahli materi, ahli media, dan ahli pembelajaran. Hasil validasi kelayakan media dari ahli materi, ahli media, dan ahli pembelajaran menunjukan bahwa media Big Book yang dikembangkan termasuk ke dalam kategori “sangat layak” untuk digunakan. Hasil dari perolehan tes siswa sebelum dan sesudah implementasi uji coba terbatas media Big Book menunjukan peningkatan dengan nilai N-gain 0,70 dan berada pada kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa media Big Book bertema lingkungan dengan pendekatan CTL ini layak dan efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa sekolah dasar kelas IV. This research is motivated by the low speaking skills of fourth-grade elementary school students. The lack of learning media is one of the causes of students being less active in speaking activities in class. Therefore, this study aims to develop learning media in the form of an environmental-themed Big Book with a CTL approach to improve the speaking skills of fourth-grade students. This study uses the Design and Development (D&D) method with the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The instruments used in this study are validation sheets, observations, interviews, and tests. The participants of this study consisted of 18 fourth-grade students in one of the elementary schools in Garut Regency, material experts, media experts, and learning experts. The results of the media feasibility validation from material experts, media experts, and learning experts showed that the developed Big Book media was included in the "very feasible" category for use. The results of student test scores before and after the implementation of the limited trial of the Big Book media showed an increase with an N-gain value of 0.70 and was in the high category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the environmental-themed Big Book media with a CTL approach is feasible and effective for use in Indonesian language learning to improve the speaking skills of fourth-grade elementary school students.
