    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya sumber belajar kontekstual dalam pembelajaran IPS yang memanfaatkan potensi kearifan lokal. Di SMP Yayasan Atikan Sunda (YAS) Bandung, kegiatan ekstrakurikuler karawitan menjadi salah satu bentuk pelestarian budaya Sunda yang berpotensi besar dijadikan sumber belajar. Karawitan tidak hanya melatih keterampilan bermusik, tetapi juga mengandung nilai-nilai sosial, sejarah, dan budaya yang relevan dengan materi IPS. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan proses terbentuknya kegiatan ekstrakurikuler karawitan, pemanfaatannya sebagai sumber belajar IPS, serta kendala dan solusinya. Metode penelitian menggunakan studi deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan ekstrakurikuler karawitan berkontribusi pada penguatan pemahaman kearifan lokal, pengembangan keterampilan sosial, serta penanaman nilai budaya pada peserta didik. Kendala yang dihadapi meliputi belum tersedianya modul ajar terintegrasi, keterbatasan waktu pembelajaran dan jadwal latihan, koordinasi yang belum optimal antara guru IPS dan pembina karawitan, keterbatasan sarana, serta belum adanya pelatihan khusus bagi guru. Meskipun demikian, hambatan ini bersifat teknis dan dapat diatasi melalui penyusunan modul kolaboratif, pengaturan jadwal terpadu, pembentukan tim koordinasi, perbaikan sarana, serta pelatihan berbasis budaya bagi guru. Dengan penerapan solusi tersebut, integrasi karawitan dalam pembelajaran IPS tetap memiliki peluang besar untuk diwujudkan, sehingga pembelajaran menjadi lebih kontekstual, menarik, dan bermakna. This research is motivated by the lack of contextual learning resources in Social Studies (IPS) that utilize the potential of local wisdom. At SMP Yayasan Atikan Sunda (YAS) Bandung, the Karawitan extracurricular activity serves as a form of preserving Sundanese culture and holds great potential as a learning resource. Karawitan not only trains musical skills but also conveys social, historical, and cultural values that are relevant to Social Studies materials. This study aims to describe the establishment process of the Karawitan extracurricular activity, its utilization as a Social Studies learning resource, as well as its challenges and solutions. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings reveal that the Karawitan extracurricular activity contributes to strengthening students’ understanding of local wisdom, developing social skills, and instilling cultural values. The challenges include the absence of an integrated teaching module, limited teaching time and practice schedules, suboptimal coordination between Social Studies teachers and Karawitan instructors, limited facilities, and the lack of specialized training for teachers. However, these challenges are technical in nature and can be addressed through the development of collaborative modules, integrated scheduling, the formation of coordination teams, improvement of facilities, and culturally-based teacher training. By implementing these solutions, the integration of Karawitan into Social Studies learning remains highly feasible, offering more contextual, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences.
