Abstract
Korosi merupakan fenomena elektrokimia yang sangat umum terjadi di lingkungan, namun faktanya materi korosi kurang disorot dalam pembelajaran. Hal ini menyebabkan munculnya miskonsepsi terkait konsep korosi. Diperlukan perbaikan dalam pembelajaran korosi dengan mengintegrasikan multiple representasi. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan konsep korosi dan mengukur keterampilan proses sains (KPS) mahasiswa melalui Learning Cyle 5E berbasis intertekstualitas. Penelitian ini merupakan mixed-method dengan embedded-experimental design, subjek penelitian adalah 40 mahasiswa calon guru kimia tahun pertama. Data kuantitatif sebagai data primer diperoleh melalui tes penguasaan konsep korosi dan rubrik KPS, sedangkan data kualitatif sebagai data sekunder diperoleh melalui transkrip rekaman audio dan video selama pembelajaran. Data kuantitatif dan kualitatif dianalisis secara terpisah dan diinterpretasi untuk menjawab masalah penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 40 mahasiswa mengalami peningkatan penguasaan konsep korosi yang signifikan berdasarkan nilai pre-test dan post-test. Selain itu, melalui penerapan Learning Cycle 5E berbasis intertektualitas, terukur tingkat KPS mahasiswa sebesar 81,19 atau tergolong sangat baik, meskipun perlu perhatian lebih pada aspek mengumpulkan data dan mengomunikasikan. Ditemukan bahwa peningkatan penguasaan konsep korosi dan KPS mahasiswa memiliki korelasi yang signifikan dengan nilai p-value 0,000 dan koefisien korelasi berharga positif 0,555, artinya peningkatan penguasaan konsep korosi dan KPS saling beriringan. Lebih lanjut, ditemukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan KPS yang signifikan antara mahasiswa dengan penguasaan konsep berkategori tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Dengan demikian, penguasaan konsep korosi dapat ditingkatkan dan keterampilan proses sains dapat terukur melalui pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E berbasis intertekstualitas. Corrosion is a widespread electrochemical phenomenon in the environment, but in fact, corrosion concept is less highlighted in chemistry education. This leads to the emergence of misconceptions related to the concept of corrosion. Improvements in corrosion learning are needed by integrating multiple representation. Therefore, this study aims to improve students’ mastery of the concept of corrosion and their science process skills (SPS) through the intertextuality-based Learning Cyle 5E. This study is a mixed-method with an embedded-experimental design, the subject of the study were 40 first-year chemistry pre-services teacher. Quantitative data, as primary data, were obtained through a corrosion test and SPS rubric. In contrast, qualitative data, as a secondary data, were obtained through transcripts of audio and video recordings. The result showed that 40 students experienced a significant increase in their understanding of corrosion based on pre-test and post test score. In addition, through the implementation od the intertextuality-based Learning Cycle 5E, the measured level of students’ SPS was 81,19, indicating an excellent level. However, more attention is needed in the aspect of collecting data and communicating. It was found that students’ mastery concept enhancements and SPS had a significant correlation with a p-value 0,000 and a positive coefficient correlation of 0,555, indicating that improvements in corrosion concept master and SPS are interconnected. Furthermore, there was a significant difference in SPS between student with high, standard, and low conceptual mastery. Therefore, corrosion concept mastery can be enhanced and SPS measured through an intertextuality-based Learning Cycle 5E.
