Abstract
Critical thinking skills are essential life skills that support increasingly sophisticated thinking in the field of education, but in reality, these skills are still not optimised. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of integrating Exit Slips formative assessment into Problem Based Learning in improving the critical thinking skills of senior high school students in the subject of heat. The research method employed was a quantitative quasi experimental study using a matching only pretest posttest control group design, involving 69 samples of Grade XI students at a high school in Bandung. Data collection was conducted through tests and surveys using ACTA critical thinking test instruments, Exit Slips formative tests, and student response questionnaires, which were analysed using N-Gain tests, effect size and quantitative descriptive tests. The results of the study indicate that the integration of formative assessment Exit Slips in Problem Based Learning is effective in enhancing high school students' critical thinking skills in the subject of heat. This study implies that the integration of formative assessment Exit Slips in Problem Based Learning can be applied in physics education to enhance high school students' critical thinking skills.
