Abstract
Games have many genres and functions, not only as a medium of entertainment, but can also be used as a medium for education and therapy. One popular genre is the Role Playing Game (RPG), where players take on roles and engage in various interactions within the game. As a therapeutic medium, RPG games have shown promising results in improving problem-solving skills and emotional control. Based on this potential, this study aims to develop an educational RPG game for individuals with intellectual disabilities, with the objective of supporting the learning process rather than therapy. The Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC) method was employed in this research, and through six structured development stages, the game titled “Adventure in Peaceful Village” was successfully developed. It incorporates addition problems involving two numbers in the form of quizzes within the combat system. Feasibility assessment was conducted by experts using the LORI (Learning Object Review Instrument), and effectiveness in learning was measured using pre-test and post-test evaluations on six students. The results showed that the game achieved an 87.3% score in content validation and an 83,75% score in media validation. These results place the game in the highly feasible category. Additionally, a 11.67% increase in student scores was observed before and after playing the game.
