    Abstract

    Siswa tunarungu mengalami hambatan dalam memahami teks deskriptif bahasa Inggris. Hal ini disebabkan oleh keterbatasan pendengaran, penguasaan kosakata, serta belum tersedianya media pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan visual mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media Bilingual AR Book dan menguji pengaruhnya terhadap peningkatan pemahaman siswa tunarungu pada materi teks deskriptif. Penelitian menggunakan metode campuran dengan desain eksploratori sekuensial, dimulai dengan pendekatan kualitatif untuk menggali kebutuhan pembelajaran dan pengembangan media, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif untuk menguji pengaruh media yang dikembangkan. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari enam siswa tunarungu kelas VII di SLBN Tasikmalaya. Produk yang dihasilkan adalah media Bilingual AR Book yang mengintegrasikan teknologi AR dalam pendekatan Bilingual dan prinsip pembelajaran siswa tunarungu. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata skor pemahaman pada aspek translasi dan interpretasi. Uji hipotesis menggunakan Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test menunjukkan adanya pengaruh signifikan penggunaan media terhadap peningkatan pemahaman siswa, baik pada aspek translasi maupun interpretasi . Hal ini dikarenanakan media Bilingual AR Book mampu menyajikan informasi secara visual, Bilingual, dan interaktif dan sesuai dengan prinsip belajar siswa tunarungu sehingga memudahkan siswa dalam memahami materi. Temuan kualitatif mendukung hasil ini, menunjukkan bahwa media membantu siswa memahami teks deskriptif dengan lebih optimal. Guru menilai media ini menarik, mudah digunakan, dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan belajar siswa tunarungu. Media ini layak diimplementasikan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris khususnya materi teks deskriptif bagi siswa tunarungu. Hearing impaired students experience difficulties in understanding English descriptive texts. This is due to limited hearing, vocabulary mastery, and the unavailability of learning media used. This study aims to develop Bilingual AR Book media and test its effect on improving hearing impaired students' understanding of descriptive text material. The study used a mixed method with a sequential exploratory design, starting with a qualitative approach to explore learning needs and media development, then continued with a quantitative approach to test the effect of the developed media. The research sample consisted of six hearing impaired students of grade VII at SLBN Tasikmalaya. The result is Bilingual AR Book media that integrates AR technology in a Bilingual approach and the learning principles of hearing impaired students. The test results showed an increase in the average comprehension score in the translation and interpretation aspects. Hypothesis testing using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a significant effect of media use on improving students' understanding, both in translation and interpretation. This is because the media is able to present information visually, Bilingually, and interactively and in accordance with the learning principles of hearing impaired students, making it easier for students to understand the material. Qualitative findings support these results, indicating that the media helped students understand descriptive texts more optimally. Teachers rated the media as engaging, easy to use, and appropriate for the learning needs of hearing impaired students. This media is suitable for implementation in English language learning, particularly for descriptive texts for hearing impaired students.
