Abstract
Banyak siswa yang tidak menyukai pelajaran matematika. Mereka cenderung menganggap matematika sebagai mata pelajaran yang sulit dan membosankan. Akibatnya, banyak siswa yang mengalami ketidakmampuan pemahaman konsep matematika dan mengalami kesulitan saat menyelesaikan soal yang diberikan dan berujung pada rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa terutama pada materi geometri bangun datar segi empat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui distribusi level berpikir siswa Kelas V Sekolah Dasar menurut Teori Van Hiele, mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa, dan mendeskripsikan secara komprehensif kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa pada materi geometri bangun datar segi empat. Penelitian ini dilakukan di sebuah Sekolah Dasar di Kabupaten Bandung, Jawa Barat melibatkan 33 siswa sebagai subjek penelitian. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus dan paradigma post posititivistik, yang memungkinkan peneliti untuk mengeksplorasi secara mendalam fenomena yang diteliti. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes geometri Van Hiele, tes pemahaman konsep, dan wawancara kepada guru dan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 24 siswa (72,73%) berada pada level berpikir (pre-0) pre visualisasi, 5 siswa (15,15%) berada pada level 0 (visualisasi), dan sebanyak 4 siswa (12,12%) berada pada level 1 (analisis). Selanjutnya, ditemukannya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa yang masih rendah pada indikator; menyatakan ulang sebuah konsep, mengklasifikasikan objek-objek menurut sifat-sifat tertentu (sesuai dengan konsepnya), memberi contoh dan bukan contoh dari sebuah konsep, menyajikan konsep dalam berbagai bentuk representasi matematis, memanfaatkan dan memilih prosedur operasi tertentu, dan mengaplikasikan konsep dalam pemecahan masalah sehari-hari. Penelitian ini juga menganalisis berbagai kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal, termasuk kesalahan dalam membaca, memahami masalah, melakukan transformasi, keterampilan proses, dan penulisan jawaban akhir. Many students dislike mathematics. They tend to consider mathematics as a difficult and boring subject. As a result, many students experience an inability to understand mathematical concepts and have difficulty solving problems given, resulting in low conceptual understanding, especially in the material of rectangular geometry. This study aims to determine the distribution of fifth-grade elementary school students' thinking levels according to Van Hiele's Theory, describe students' mathematical conceptual understanding abilities, and comprehensively describe the difficulties faced by students in the material of rectangular geometry. This study was conducted in an elementary school in Bandung Regency, West Java, involving 33 students as research subjects. The method used was qualitative research with a case study design and post positivistic paradigm, which allowed researchers to explore in depth the phenomenon being studied. Data collection was carried out through Van Hiele geometry tests, conceptual understanding tests, and interviews with teachers and students. The results showed that 24 students (72,73%) were at the pre-visualization thinking level (pre-0), 5 students (15,15%) were at level 0 (visualization), and 4 students (12,12%) were at level 1 (analysis). Furthermore, it was found that students' mathematical conceptual understanding abilities were still low on the indicators; restate a concept, classify objects according to certain properties (according to the concept), provide examples and non-examples of a concept, present the concept in various forms of mathematical representation, utilize and select certain operating procedures, and apply the concept in solving everyday problems. This study also analyzes various student difficulties in solving problems, including errors in reading, understanding problems, performing transformations, process skills, and writing final answers.
