Abstract
Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa SMP melalui implementasi pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education pada materi statistika. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan rata-rata pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis pada materi statistika yang signifikan antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran melalui implementasi pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education dan pendekatan langsung. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan metode quasi-experiment dan desain penelitian non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak dua kelas, dengan kelas eksperimen menggunakan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education berjumlah 28 siswa dan kelas kontrol menggunakan pendekatan langsung berjumlah 28 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan rata-rata pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis pada materi statistika yang signifikan antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran melalui implementasi pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education dan pendekatan langsung. This research examines the improvement of mathematical reasoning ability of junior high school students through the implementation of Realistic Mathematics Education approach on statistics material. The aim of this research is to determine the average difference in achievement and significant improvement in mathematical reasoning ability in statistics between students who learned through the implementation of Realistic Mathematics Education approach and direct approach. This type of research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method and a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all students of class VIII in one of the public junior high schools in Bandung City. The sample used were two classes, with the experimental class using the Realistic Mathematics Education approach totaling 28 students and the control class using the direct approach totaling 28 students. The results of the research show that there was a significant difference in the average achievement and improvement of mathematical reasoning ability on statistics material between students who learned through the implementation of Realistic Mathematics Education approach and direct approach.
