Abstract
Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan Games Snake Ladder terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dan minat belajar siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama, serta mengevaluasi keterlaksanaan model tersebut dalam pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan desain one-group pretest–posttest, melibatkan 34 siswa kelas IX SMP Yayasan Atikan Sunda yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari: (1) tes keterampilan berpikir kritis berupa 10 soal uraian yang dikembangkan berdasarkan indikator berpikir kritis Facione (interpretasi, analisis, evaluasi, inferensi, dan penjelasan); (2) angket minat belajar yang mencakup indikator perhatian, rasa ingin tahu, kesenangan, dan motivasi; serta (3) lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada keterampilan berpikir kritis dan minat belajar siswa setelah penerapan model PBL berbantuan Games Snake Ladder. Uji korelasi juga menemukan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara keterampilan berpikir kritis dengan minat belajar siswa. Selain itu, hasil observasi menunjukkan keterlaksanaan model berjalan dengan baik, di mana siswa tampak aktif berdiskusi, antusias, dan terlibat dalam pemecahan masalah. Dengan demikian, penerapan model Problem Based Learning berbantuan Games Snake Ladder terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran IPS di SMP. Abstract This study aims to analyze the influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Game Snake Ladder on junior high school students’ critical thinking skills and learning interest, as well as to evaluate the implementation of the model in Social Studies (IPS) learning. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design, involving 34 ninth-grade students of SMP Yayasan Atikan Sunda, selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments consisted of: (1) a critical thinking skills test comprising 10 essay questions developed based on Facione’s critical thinking indicators (interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, and explanation); (2) a learning interest questionnaire covering indicators of attention, curiosity, enjoyment, and motivation; and (3) an observation sheet to assess the implementation of the learning process. The findings showed a significant improvement in students’ critical thinking skills and learning interest after the implementation of the PBL model assisted by the Snake Ladder game. Correlation analysis also revealed a positive and significant relationship between critical thinking skills and learning interest. In addition, observation data indicated that the model was well implemented, with students actively participating in discussions, showing enthusiasm, and engaging in problem-solving. Thus, the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by the Snake Ladder game proved effective in improving the quality of Social Studies learning at the junior high school level.
