    Abstract

    Studi eksperimental ini membahas keterampilan pemecahan masalah yang rendah yang diamati di antara siswa sekolah dasar, terutama dalam konteks ilmiah, dan ketidakcukupan metode pengajaran konvensional dalam menumbuhkan pemikiran kritis dan kreatif. Menyadari perlunya peningkatan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi, penelitian ini mengintegrasikan pendekatan design thinking ke dalam pembelajaran materi energi terbarukan. Menggunakan desain kuasi-eksperimental dengan time Series design, penelitian ini secara kuantitatif mengukur perubahan kemampuan pemecahan masalah di antara siswa sekolah dasar. Proses pembelajaran mencakup tiga sesi, secara sistematis membimbing siswa melalui tahap Empati, Mendefinisikan, Membuat Ide, Prototipe, dan Uji dari design thinking untuk mengembangkan indikator pemecahan masalah seperti memahami masalah, menyusun rencana, melaksanakan rencana, dan memeriksa kembali. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa, dengan skor posttest yang jauh lebih tinggi daripada skor pretest, menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan design thiking secara efektif meningkatkan pemikiran kritis, kreatif, dan kolaboratif. Metode pembelajaran aktif yang berpusat pada siswa ini terbukti sangat efektif dalam mengembangkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah yang penting untuk tantangan masa depan, selaras dengan teori konstruktivisme yang dikemukakan oleh Jean Piaget dan Lev Vygotsky. ------- This experimental study addresses the low problem-solving skills observed among elementary school students, particularly in scientific contexts, and the inadequacy of conventional teaching methods in fostering critical and creative thinking. Recognizing the need to improve higher-order thinking skills, this study integrated a design thinking approach into renewable energy instruction. Using a quasi-experimental time-Series design, this study quantitatively measured changes in problem-solving abilities among elementary school students. The learning process consisted of three sessions, systematically guiding students through the Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test stages of design thinking to develop problem-solving indicators such as understanding the problem, formulating a plan, implementing the plan, and re-examining. The results showed a significant improvement in students' problem-solving skills, with posttest scores significantly higher than pre-test scores, indicating that the design thinking approach effectively enhances critical, creative, and collaborative thinking. This student-centered, active learning method has proven highly effective in developing problem-solving skills essential for future challenges, aligning with the constructivist theory proposed by Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky.
