    Abstract

    Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka di Indonesia menghadapi tantangan yang beragam, terutama dalam konteks kesenjangan kualitas sekolah. Kepala sekolah yang berlatar belakang Guru Penggerak memiliki peran strategis dalam mengatasi tantangan tersebut melalui pendekatan kepemimpinan yang inovatif dan berbasis pada kebutuhan lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi strategi alternatif yang diterapkan oleh kepala sekolah dalam mengimplementasikan Kurikulum Merdeka di sekolah dasar dengan kondisi yang beragam di Kabupaten Garut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan analisis dokumen. Informan penelitian terdiri dari kepala sekolah yang memiliki latar belakang sebagai Guru Penggerak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah mengembangkan berbagai strategi alternatif, seperti adaptasi kurikulum berbasis potensi lokal, penguatan komunitas belajar, dan kolaborasi dengan pemangku kepentingan untuk mengatasi keterbatasan sumber daya. Selain itu, kepemimpinan transformatif dan inovasi dalam pembelajaran menjadi kunci dalam mengurangi kesenjangan antar sekolah. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa kepala sekolah dengan latar belakang Guru Penggerak mampu menjadi agen perubahan dalam Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka. Rekomendasi dari penelitian ini mencakup perlunya dukungan kebijakan yang lebih fleksibel, penguatan kapasitas kepemimpinan kepala sekolah, serta peningkatan kerja sama antar sekolah untuk mempersempit kesenjangan pendidikan. ------- Implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Indonesia faces various challenges, especially in the context of gaps in school quality. School principals with a Teacher Mobilization background have a strategic role in overcoming these challenges through an innovative leadership approach based on local needs. This research aims to explore alternative strategies implemented by school principals in implementing the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools with varying conditions in Garut Regency. The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation and document analysis. The research participants consisted of school principals who had a background as Teacher Activators. The research results show that school principals develop various alternative strategies, such as adapting the curriculum based on local potential, strengthening learning communities, and collaborating with stakeholders to overcome limited resources. In addition, transformative leadership and innovation in learning are key in reducing disparities between schools. The conclusion of this research confirms that school principals with a Teacher Mobilization background are able to become agents of change in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. Recommendations from this research include the need for more flexible policy support, strengthening the leadership capacity of school principals, and increasing collaboration between schools to narrow educational gaps.
