Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal pemecahan masalah materi barisan dan deret ditinjau dari self-concept. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek siswa kelas XI MIPA di salah satu SMA swasta di Kota Bandung. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari tes pemecahan masalah, angket self-concept, dan wawancara, dengan analisis kesulitan mengacu pada empat tahap Polya: memahami masalah, merencanakan penyelesaian, melaksanakan rencana, dan memeriksa kembali jawaban. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan kategori self-concept rendah mengalami hambatan memahami soal dan mengubah informasi menjadi bentuk matematis, siswa dengan kategori self-concept sedang kesulitan pada tahap pemodelan masalah dan verifikasi jawaban, sedangkan siswa dengan kategori self concept tinggi cenderung kurang teliti akibat rasa percaya diri berlebih. Faktor penyebab kesulitan meliputi keterbatasan penguasaan konsep, kesalahan perhitungan, kurangnya kebiasaan memeriksa hasil, dan pengaruh aspek afektif. Penyesuaian strategi pembelajaran sesuai tingkatan self-concept menjadi alternatif efektif untuk mengurangi kesulitan tersebut, dengan solusi berupa pendampingan intensif, latihan kontekstual berulang, pembiasaan memeriksa jawaban, dan penerapan peer tutoring untuk melatih ketelitian serta refleksi diri. This study aimed to describe students' difficulties in solving problem-solving questions on the material of rows and series in terms of self-concept. The method used was descriptive qualitative with the subject of students of class XI MIPA in one of the private high schools in Bandung City. The research instruments consisted of problem-solving tests, self-concept questionnaires, and interviews, with difficulty analysis referring to Polya's four stages: understanding the problem, planning the solution, implementing the plan, and re-examining the answer. The results showed that students with low self-concept experienced obstacles in understanding the problem and converting information into mathematical form, students with moderate self-concept had difficulties at the problem modeling and answer verification stages, while students with high self-concept tended to be less careful due to excessive self-confidence. Factors causing difficulties included limited mastery of concepts, calculation errors, lack of habit of checking results, and the influence of affective aspects. Adjustment of learning strategies according to the level of self-concept was considered an effective alternative to reduce these difficulties, with solutions in the form of intensive assistance, repeated contextual exercises, habituation to check answers, and the application of peer tutoring to train accuracy and self-reflection.
