Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas media pembelajaran PhET Simulation terhadap pemahaman konsep IPA siswa fase B Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih rendahnya pemahaman konsep IPA pada siswa karena materi IPA bersifat abstrak dan belum banyak menggunakan media konkret dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental jenis One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Adapun subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 37 siswa kelas IV pada salah satu SD di Kecamatan Lembang, Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes pemahaman konsep IPA berdasarkan indikator pemahaman konsep menurut Anderson dan Krathwohl, yaitu menafsirkan, mencontohkan, mengklasifikasi, merangkum, menyimpulkan, membandingkan, dan menjelaskan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor rata-rata pemahaman konsep IPA siswa dari nilai pretest sebesar 47,83 menjadi 74.14pada posttest, dengan nilai N-Gain sebesar 52.2 atau sebesar 52% yang termasuk kategori sedang. Berdasarkan hasil uji paired sample t-test diperoleh nilai signifikansi (2-tailed) sebesar 0,001 < 0,05, yang menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan antara hasil pretest dan posttest. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media pembelajaran PhET Simulation efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep IPA pada siswa fase B Sekolah Dasar. Dengan demikian, penggunaan PhET Simulation dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif media pembelajaran interaktif yang dapat membantu siswa dalam memahami konsep IPA dengan cara yang lebih menarik dan konkret. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using PhET Simulation as a learning media to improve science concept uderstanding among phase B elementary school students. This research was conducted due to the low understanding of science concepts among students, which is caused by the abstract nature of science material and the limited use of concrete media during learning. The research employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design using One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects in this study consisted of 37 fourth-grade students from an elementary school in Lembang District, West Bandung Regency. Data were collected using a science concept comprehension test based on indicators proposed by Anderson and Krathwohl, which include interpreting, exemplifying, classifying, summarizing, concluding, comparing, and explaining. The results of the study indicated an increase in the average science concept comprehension score from 47,83 in the pretest to 74,14 in the posttest, with an N-Gain score of 52,2 or 52% which falls under the moderate category. Based on the paired sample t-test, a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.001 < 0.05 was obtained, indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest results. This shows that the use of PhET Simulation as a learning media is effective in improving science concept comprehension among phase B elementary school students. Therefore, PhET Simulation can be considered as an alternative interactive learning media that can assist students in understanding science concepts in a more concrete and engaging way.
