    Abstract

    Kemampuan membaca lancar merupakan keterampilan dasar yang penting bagi siswa sekolah dasar, sehingga diperlukan strategi pembelajaran yang tepat untuk meningkatkan kelancaran membaca. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode membaca terbimbing bermediakan buku berjenjang terhadap kelancaran membaca siswa sekolah dasar. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas 2 di SDN 268 Panyileukan sebagai kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan metode membaca terbimbing bermediakan buku berjenjang dan siswa kelas 2 di SDN 169 Pelita sebagai kelas kontrol yang menggunakan metode kupas rangkai suku kata bermediakan buku berjenjang, dengan data diperoleh melalui tes kelancaran membaca berupa pretest dan posttest. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain (the matching-only pretest-posttest control group design) dengan desain, serta analisis data melalui statistik deskriptif, uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji-t (paired sample t-test dan independent sample t-test), dan perhitungan N-Gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kelancaran membaca yang signifikan berpengaruh pada kelas eksperimen dibandingkan kelas kontrol, dengan nilai rata-rata N-Gain kelas eksperimen sebesar 52,03% dan kelas kontrol sebesar 30,35%. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode membaca terbimbing bermediakan buku berjenjang lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan kelancaran membaca siswa sekolah dasar dibandingkan metode kupas rangkai suku kata, sehingga dapat menjadi acuan bagi guru dalam memilih strategi pembelajaran membaca yang tepat guna meningkatkan kemampuan literasi siswa. ------- Reading fluency is a fundamental skill that is important for elementary school students; therefore, appropriate learning strategies are needed to improve it. This study aims to determine the effect of the guided reading method using leveled books on students’ reading fluency. The subjects were second grade students at SDN 268 Panyileukan as the experimental class, which used the guided reading method with leveled books, and second grade students at SDN 169 Pelita as the control class, which used the syllable-based method with leveled books. Data were collected through reading fluency tests in the form of pretests and posttests. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using the matching-only pretest–posttest control group design, and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality test, homogeneity test, t-tests (paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test), and N-Gain calculation. The findings showed a significant improvement in reading fluency in the experimental class compared to the control class, with the mean N-Gain score of the experimental class being 52.03% and the control class 30.35%. Thus, it can be concluded that the guided reading method using leveled books is more effective in improving the reading fluency of elementary school students than the syllable-based method, and it can serve as a useful reference for teachers in selecting appropriate reading instruction strategies to enhance students’ literacy skills.
