Abstract
--------- This study aims to develop an educational board game called FloFaHunt (Flora and Fauna Hunt) as a medium to train the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade elementary school students. The background of this research is based on the low level of students’ critical thinking skills in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning and the limited availability of interactive and engaging instructional media. The development of the media employed the Design and Development (D&D) Type 2 method based on the Richey & Klein model, using a mixed-methods approach with a concurrent embedded design. The research subjects were fifth-grade students at SDN 216 Sondariah, Bandung City. Data were collected through interviews, student response questionnaires, as well as pre-test and post-test assessments. The implementation of this media was proven to enhance students’ critical thinking skills, as indicated by an N-Gain score of 0.7137, which falls into the high category. In addition, the questionnaire results showed positive student responses to the use of the media, as students felt more interested, motivated, and actively engaged during the learning process. Thus, the FloFaHunt board game is effective for improving critical thinking skills while enhancing the quality of IPAS learning in elementary schools.
