Abstract

Pengeksporan nanas dengan skala besar meninggalkan limbah daun nanas. Daun nanas merupakan salah satu penghasil serat alam yang memiliki kandungan selulosa yang tinggi. Kandungan selulosa ini membuat serat daun nanas memiliki daya tarik yang tak hanya kuat namun juga kokoh sehingga serat daun nanas biasanya hanya dimanfaatkan untuk pembuatan kertas, kain dan tas. Paper sculpture merupakan teknik mengubah lembaran kertas menjadi bentuk 3 dimensi dengan cara memanipulasinya untuk menciptakan bentuk, volume dan tekstur yang baru. Teknik paper sculpture ini dapat dimanfaatkan untuk membuat berbagai kerajinan salah satunya adalah kerajinan perhiasan anting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi serat daun nanas dalam pembuatan anting menggunakan teknik paper sculpture dengan bantuan formation aid. Metode yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data adalah kualitatif dimana data primer didapatkan dari eksperimen sedangkan data sekunder didapatkan dari studi literatur, konsultasi desain dan observasi. Hasil dari data eksplorasi ini adalah bentuk, warna dan tekstur yang akan digunakan untuk perancangan anting. Modul yang dipilih untuk pembuatan anting adalah modul 1 dari alternatif 2 yaitu serat daun nanas dan formation aid dengan komposisi bentuk 1 dan 4 alternatif 2 menggunakan pewarna dari bunga telang, kayu secang, pewarna makanan warna ungu dan beeswax sebagai pelapis. Dari hasil temuan eksperimen, saran uji coba lebih lanjut difokuskan kepada bentuk dan warna material serat daun nanas. Large scale pineapple exports leave behind pineapple leaf waste. Pineapple leaves are one of the natural fiber sources with a high cellulose content. This cellulose content makes pineapple leaf fibers not only strong but also sturdy, so pineapple leaf fibers are usually only used for making paper, cloth, and bags. Paper sculpture is a technique of transforming sheets of paper into three-dimensional forms by manipulating them to create new shapes, volumes, and textures. This paper sculpture technique can be used to create various crafts, including earring jewelry. This research aims to explore pineapple leaf fibers in earring making using the paper sculpture technique with the aid of a formation aid. The method used to analyze the data is qualitative, where primary data is obtained from experiments, while secondary data is obtained from literature studies, design consultations, and observations. The results of this exploratory data are the shapes, colors, and textures that will be used for earring design. The module chosen for earring making is module 1 from alternative 2, which is pineapple leaf fiber and formation aid, with a composition of 1 and 4 from alternative 2, using dye from butterfly pea flowers, sappanwood, purple food coloring, and beeswax as a coating. Based on the experimental findings, further trial suggestions are focused on the shape and color of the pineapple leaf fiber material.
