Abstract
Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan di kelas X tahun ajaran 2024/2025 di SMA Negeri 15 Bandung, memperlihatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang belum optimal. Hal ini terlihat dari permasalahan dalam proses pembelajaran, dimana siswa menujukkan adanya kesulitan dalam memahami materi secara mendalam dan cenderung hanya menghafal teori, kurangnya keaktifan siswa dalam bertanya atau berdiskusi, kesulitan siswa dalam mengaitkan materi dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, serta keterbatasan dalam mengembangkan argumen berdasarkan teori. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas case method dalam pembelajaran geografi terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen, jenis quasi experiment design dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui pretest, posttest, serta didukung oleh lembar kerja peserta didik (LKPD) dan penilaian presentasi serta refleksi diri siswa yang mengacu pada enam indikator berpikir kritis menurut Facione. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Meskipun terdapat kendala, seperti kondisi kelas yang kurang kondusif pada pertemuan awal serta keterbatasan instrumen soal pilihan majemuk dalam mengukur indikator explanation dan self-regulation secara optimal, secara keseluruhan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa mengalami peningkatan signifikan. Indikator dengan capaian tertinggi adalah inference (97,14% kategori sangat baik), sedangkan capaian terendah terdapat pada interpretation (48,57% kategori sangat baik). Based on the results of observations in class X of the 2024/2025 school year at SMA Negeri 15 Bandung, it shows that students' critical thinking skills are not optimal. This can be seen from problems in the learning process, where students show difficulties in understanding the material in depth and tend to only memorize theories, lack of student activity in asking questions or discussing, student difficulties in relating the material to daily life, and limitations in developing arguments based on theory. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the case method in geography learning on improving students' critical thinking skills. The research method used is experimental, a type of quasi experiment design with a quantitative approach. Data was collected through pretests, posttests, and supported by student worksheets (LKPD) and assessment of presentations and student self-reflection which referred to six indicators of critical thinking according to Facione. The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference in students' critical thinking skills before and after treatment. Despite the obstacles, such as unconducive classroom conditions at the initial meeting and the limitations of multiple-choice question instruments in measuring the explanation and self-regulation indicators optimally, overall students' critical thinking skills have improved significantly. The indicator with the highest achievement is inference (97.14% of the very good category), while the lowest achievement is in interpretation (48.57% of the very good category).
