    Abstract

    Keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran terbalik (flipped classroom), khususnya pada sesi belajar mandiri di rumah seringkali sulit dimonitoring. Gamified flipped classroom (GFC) dengan memanfaatkan platform Nearpod menawarkan solusi untuk mengatasi hal tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi mengenai pengaruh penerapan GFC terhadap keterlibatan kognitif dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi sistem pernapasan manusia. Metode penelitian menggunakan quasi-experiment dengan non-equivalent control group design. Sebanyak 33 siswa kelompok eksperimen dan 33 siswa kelompok kontrol menjadi subjek penelitian. Pembelajaran dilaksanakan selama 3 minggu. Keterlibatan kognitif diukur menggunakan instrumen non-tes berupa kuesioner SCCEI serta wawancara semi terstruktur dan dokumentasi catatan siswa sebagai data pendukung. Sedangkan penguasaan konsep diukur menggunakan instrumen tes 30 soal pilihan ganda. Studi ini memanfaatkan statistik inferensial berupa uji Independent Samples T-Test dan Mann-Whitney untuk perbandingan kedua kelompok dan besarnya pengaruh menggunakan uji effect size Cohen’s d. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa GFC berbeda signifikan dengan siswa FC dan terdapat pengaruh terhadap keterlibatan kognitif dan penguasaan konsep siswa dengan nilai p-value sesi asynchronous 0,003 dan sesi synchronous 0,015 untuk keterlibatan kognitif serta 0,000 untuk penguasaan konsep. Intervensi GFC yang diberikan memberikan pengaruh yang sedang dengan nilai Cohen’s d pada keterlibatan kognitif sesi asynchronous sebesar 0,76 dan sesi synchronous sebesar 0,61 serta pengaruh yang besar pada penguasaan konsep dengan nilai 1,12. Kesimpulannya adalah penerapan strategi GFC pada pembelajaran berpengaruh signifikan dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan kognitif dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi sistem pernapasan manusia. Student engagement in flipped classroom, especially in self-study sessions at home, is often difficult to monitor. Gamified flipped classroom (GFC) by utilizing Nearpod platform offers a solution to overcome this problem. This study aims to obtain information about the effect of GFC implementation on students’ cognitive engagement and conceptual understanding on human respiratory system. The research method used quasi-experiment with non-equivalent control group design. The experimental and control groups each consisted of 33 students. Learning was carried out for 3 weeks. Cognitive engagement was measured using non-test instruments in the form of SCCEI questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and student notes as supporting data. Meanwhile, conceptual understanding was measured using a 30-question multiple-choice test instrument. This study utilized inferential statistics in the form of Independent Samples T-Test and Mann-Whitney tests and the effectiveness of the influence using Cohen's d effect size test. The results indicate that GFC students differ significantly from FC students and that there was an effect on the treatment given, with p-values of 0.003 for asynchronous sessions and 0.015 for synchronous sessions for cognitive engagement, and 0.000 for conceptual understanding. The GFC learning The GFC intervention had a moderate effect on cognitive engagement, with a Cohen’s d value of 0.76 for the asynchronous session and 0.61 for the synchronous session, and a large effect on conceptual understanding, with a value of 1.12. In conclusion, the application of the GFC strategy in learning has a significant effect on improving students' cognitive engagement and conceptual understanding in human respiratory system.
