Abstract
Latar belakang penelitian adalah masih rendahnya keterampilan menulis siswa di jenjang sekolah dasar, terutama dalam menyusun teks deskripsi yang menghambat siswa dalam mengungkapkan ide, gagasan, dan informasi secara jelas dan terstruktur. Maka, peneliti tertarik untuk melakukan penelitian guna mengetahui; 1) Pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning berbantuan media Pixton terhadap keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi pada siswa kelas IV; 2) Peningkatan keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi siswa kelas IV dengan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning berbantuan media Pixton dibandingkan siswa dengan model pembelajaran Cooperative Learning. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan jenis penelitian kuasi eksperimen. Desain penelitian ini ialah Nonequevalent Control Group Design dan memakai teknik Purposive Sampling dalam pengambilan sampelnya. Sampel pada penelitian ini yakni kelas IV A dan IV B di salah satu sekolah dasar di Kabupaten Subang dengan jumlah masing-masing siswa 20. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu tes keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi berupa essay sebanyak satu soal yang dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran. Hasil analisis data tersebut menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh sebesar 62,2% pada kelas eksperimen, lalu terdapat perbedaan peningkatan sebesar 0,71 dengan kategori tinggi pada kelas eksperimen, sedangkan 0,44 dengan kategori sedang pada kelas kontrol. Dalam penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa: 1) Model Discovery Learning berbantuan media Pixton Berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi siswa; 2) Terdapat peningkatan keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi siswa yang mendapatkan penerapan model Discovery Learning berbantuan media Pixton lebih baik dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mendapatkan penerapan model Cooperative Learning. ----- The background of this study is the low level of writing skills among primary school students, especially in composing descriptive texts, which hinders students from expressing their ideas, thoughts, and information clearly and structurally. Therefore, the researcher is interested in conducting research to determine: 1) The effect of implementing the Discovery Learning model assisted by Pixton media on the descriptive text writing skills of fourth-grade students; 2) The improvement in the descriptive text writing skills of fourth-grade students using the Discovery Learning model assisted by Pixton media compared to students using the Cooperative Learning model. The method used in this research is an experiment with a quasi-experimental research design. The research design is a Nonequivalent Control Group Design, and the sampling technique used is Purposive Sampling. The sample in this study consists of Grade IV A and IV B classes at one elementary school in Subang District, with each class having 20 students. The data used in this study are descriptive text writing skill tests in the form of one essay question administered before and after the learning process. The results of the data analysis showed that there was an influence of 62.2% in the experimental class, then there was a difference in improvement of 0.71 with a high category in the experimental class, while 0.44 with a moderate category in the control class. In this study, it can be concluded that: 1) The Discovery Learning model assisted by Pixton media has an effect on students' descriptive text writing skills; 2) There is an improvement in the descriptive text writing skills of students who received the Discovery Learning model assisted by Pixton media compared to students who received the Cooperative Learning model.
