Abstract
This study aims to analyze the types of conceptions and common misconceptions on each subtopic among junior high school students in the topic of Earth and Solar System. The instrument used was the Four-Tier Diagnostic Test. The research method used was quantitative research method, with the research design is Cross- sectional Survey Design. The population in this study were all 8th grade junior high school students in Central Bandung in the 2024/2025 school year, with the number of students recorded in Dinas Pendidikan Kota Bandung was 6895, with a confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of 0.05. Therefore, the sample size of 904 met the minimum required sample size. The sample in this study was selected using the Convenience Sampling method and involved 20 School in Central Bandung Region. Based on the results of data analysis, the results showed that there were three types of conceptions with the highest percentage, namely Lack of Knowledge (29%), Scientific Knowledge (26%), and Misconception (24%). From these results, it can be seen that the number of misconceptions among students in this topic is still relatively high, especially in the concept of planets (35%), earth movement in solar system (23%), and sun characteristics (39%). These misconceptions can occur due to several things, one of which is the use of inappropriate learning methods and media. To overcome these misconceptions, it is necessary to use appropriate learning methods and learning media that can increase student motivation in learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis konsepsi dan miskonsepsi umum pada setiap subtopik pada siswa SMP dalam topik Bumi dan Tata Surya. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah Four-Tier Diagnostic Test. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif, dengan desain penelitian yaitu Cross-sectional Survey Design. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas 8 SMP di Bandung Tengah pada tahun ajaran 2024/2025, dengan jumlah siswa yang tercatat pada Dinas Pendidikan Kota Bandung adalah 6895, dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95% dan margin of error 0.05. Dengan begitu, jumlah sampel sebanyak 904 sudah memenuhi syarat minimum jumlah sampel yang diperlukan. Sample pada penelitian ini dipilih menggunakan metode Convenience Sampling dan melibatkan 20 SMP di Bandung Tengah. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, didapatkan hasil dimana terdapat tiga jenis konsepsi dengan persentase tertinggi yaitu Lack of Knowledge (29%), Scientific Knowledge (26%), dan Miskonsepsi (24%). Dari hasil ini dapat diketahui bahwa angka miskonsepsi pada siswa di topik ini masih terbilang tinggi, terutama pada konsep planet (35%), earth movement in solar system (23%), dan sun characteristic (39%). Miskonsepsi ini dapat terjadi karena beberapa hal, salah satunya penggunaan metode dan media pembelajaran yang tidak sesuai. Untuk mengatasi miskonsepsi ini perlu digunakan metode pembelajaran dan media pembelajaran yang sesuai dan dapat meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam belajar.
