    Abstract

    Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas 1 yang disebabkan oleh ketidaksesuaian metode pembelajaran yang digunakan, serta terbatasnya penggunaan media pembelajaran yang variatif. Solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan menerapkan Syllabic Method berbantuan media digital Powtoon. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas 1 yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, setiap siklus mencakup tahapan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Partisipan pada penelitian ini siswa kelas 1 sebanyak 26 siswa di SDN 1 Ekacita. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan membaca yang signifikan. Nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat dari 62,89 pada prasiklus, menjadi 69,80 pada siklus I, dan mencapai 85,20 pada siklus II. Aktivitas belajar pada siklus I dengan skor 92% , dan meningkat di siklus II dengan skor 96%. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa penerapan Syllabic Method berbantuan media Powtoon terbukti efektif dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan. ----- The background of this research is the low initial reading ability of grade 1 students caused by the incompatibility of the learning methods used, as well as the limited use of varied learning media. The solution to overcome this problem is to apply the Syllabic Method with the help of Powtoon digital media. This study uses the classroom action research method (PTK) to improve the initial reading ability of grade 1 students which is carried out in two cycles, each cycle includes stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants in this study were 26 grade 1 students at SDN 1 Ekacita. The results of the study showed a significant improvement in reading ability. The average score of students increased from 62.89 in the first cycle, to 69.80 in the first cycle, and reached 85.20 in the second cycle. Teacher activity in the first cycle with a score of 92%, and increased in the second cycle with a score of 96%. This shows that the application of the Syllabic Method assisted by Powtoon media has proven to be effective in improving initial reading skills.
