Abstract
Penelitian ini di latar belakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I SDN Cibata. Sebagian besar siswa masih terbata-bata ketika membaca, bahkan masih ada yang kesulitan membedakan huruf yang memiliki kemiripan bentuk ataupun suara. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penerapan media papan flanel kata dalam membantu meningkatkan keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan melibatkan peneliti sendiri yang menjadi guru kelas dan 11 siswa kelas I sebagai sampel penelitian. Data yang dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan evaluasi hasil belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penerapan media papan flanel kata dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa. Hal ini terlihat pada peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa pada siklus I tercatat sebesar 64,55 sedangkan pada siklus II menjadi 98,18. Sehingga bisa disimpulkan bahwa penerapan media papan flanel kata terbukti sebagai media pembelajaran yang bisa membantu meningkatkan keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa dan memberikan dampak positif terhadap hasil belajar siswa. This research is motivated by the low beginning reading skills of first-grade students at SDN Cibata. Most students still struggle while reading, and some even have difficulty distinguishing letters that have similar shapes or sounds. The aim of this study is to investigate the application of word flanel board media in helping to improve students' beginning reading skills. The researcher employed a descriptive qualitative approach using Classroom Action Research (CAR), involving the researcher as the classroom teacher and 11 first-grade students as the research sample. Data were collected through observations and evaluations of students' learning outcomes. The results indicate that the application of word flanel board media can enhance students' beginning reading skills, as evidenced by the increase in the average score of students from 64.55 in the first cycle to 98.18 in the second cycle. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of word flanel board media is proven to be effective as a teaching tool that can help improve students' beginning reading skills and positively impact their learning outcomes.
