    Abstract

    Penggunaan Sistem Isyarat Bahasa Indonesia di SLB B Sumbersari Saat melakukan perannya, guru melakukan berbagai proses sosial. Salah satunya yaitu komunikasi. Salah satu sistem komunikasi bagi anak dengan hambatan pendengaran adalah Sistem Isyarat Bahasa Indonesia (SIBI) sesuai dengan keputusan pemerintah di tahun 1994. Setelah 23 tahun keputusan itu disahkan, SIBI belum digunakan secara menyeluruh di sekolah, salah satunya di SLB B Sumbersari. Penulis melakukan penelitian ini untuk mencari tahu mengapa SIBI tidak digunakan secara menyeluruh. Metode yang penulis gunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan melibatkan seluruh siswa dan guru serta kepala sekolah di SLB B Sumbersari dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara, studi dokumentasi dan observasi. Temuan penelitian yaitu guru belum menggunakan SIBI secara menyeluruh, hanya sebagian saja. Hal ini terjadi karena berbagai kendala seperti belum samanya pandangan guru terhadap masalah komunikasi di sekolahnya, guru dan siswa belum terbiasa menggunakan SIBI. Namun, kendala itu ditanggulangi oleh guru dan kepala sekolah dengan mengambil keputusan berupa menggunakan metode komunikasi oral sebagai metode alternatif untuk mengajar, menggunakan gestur, membahas permasalahan dalam rapat, melakukan pembiasaan kepada siswa untuk dan menggunakan SIBI saat upacara. Rekomendasi yang penulis berikan bagi peneliti selanjutnya yaitu mencari tahu perbandingan efektivitas penggunaan SIBI dengan bahasa isyarat, menggali informasi mengenai pengaruh SIBI terhadap kemampuan berbahasa, serta mengadakan forum grup diskusi dengan ahli komunikasi, ahli bahasa, ahli isyarat, dan pakar pendidikan. The Usage of Indonesian Sign System in SLB B Sumbersari When performing as teacher, teacher do various social processes such as communication. Any communication system for children with hearing impairment is Indonesian Sign System or Sistem Isyarat Bahasa Indonesia (SIBI) that based on the government's decision in 1994. After 23 years of the rule had ratified, SIBI has not been used comprehensively in schools, one of which is at SLB B Sumbersari. The author tries to find out why SIBI is not used comprehensively. The method is descriptive qualitative by involving all students, teachers and principal of SLB B Sumbersari. Author collect data with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, documentation and observation. Research findings are teachers teachers had not used SIBI comprehensively only partially. This happened because of various problems such as the teacher's view on communication problems in their schools were not yet the same, teachers and students not used to using SIBI. However, the constraints were overcome by the teacher and the school principal by making decision using the oral method as an alternative method for teaching, using gestures, discussing the problems in the meeting, familiarizing students with and using SIBI during the ceremony. The recommendations given by the authors to the next researcher are finding out the comparison of the effectiveness of using SIBI with sign language, digging up information about the influence of SIBI on students' language skills, and to hold a discussion group forum with communication experts, linguists, sign language experts, and education experts.
