    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis model mental peserta didik menggunakan instrumen tes diagnostik empat tingkat pada topik fluida statis. Pengembangan instrumen ini mengadopsi modifikasi Model Wilson serta Model Oriondo dan Antonio (1998), yang dianggap paling sesuai untuk proses pengembangan instrumen tes. Tahapan penelitian meliputi perancangan tes, uji coba, dan perakitan tes. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 100 peserta didik kelas XII IPA di dua SMA di Kabupaten Kuningan. Instrumen yang digunakan mencakup lembar validasi ahli dan lembar soal tes diagnostik empat tingkat, dengan validitas dan reliabilitas diuji menggunakan pendekatan Rasch Model. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua soal tes diagnostik yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria validitas dengan reliabilitas yang baik. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa kategori model mental peserta didik terbagi menjadi empat kategori: scientific model, synthesis-partial understanding, synthesis-misconception, dan initial model. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini berhasil menghasilkan instrumen tes yang efektif dalam mengidentifikasi model mental peserta didik pada topik fluida statis, serta memberikan wawasan tentang pemahaman konsep fisika di kalangan peserta didik.

    This study aims to analyze students' mental models using a four-tier diagnostic test instrument on the topic of static fluids. The development of this instrument adopts modifications from the Wilson Model as well as the Oriondo and Antonio Model (1998), which are considered most suitable for the instrument development process. The research stages include test design, trial testing, and test assembly. The subjects of the study comprised 100 twelfth-grade science students from two high schools in Kuningan Regency. The instruments used included expert validation sheets and a four-tier diagnostic test sheet, with validity and reliability assessed using the Rasch Model approach. The results indicate that all developed diagnostic test items met validity criteria with good reliability. Findings reveal that students' mental models can be categorized into four groups: scientific model, synthesis-partial understanding, synthesis misconception, and initial model. Thus, this research successfully produced an effective test instrument for identifying students' mental models on the topic of static fluids, providing insights into students' understanding of physics concepts.
