Abstract

This research purposes to find out the effect of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) on improving social interaction in children with behavioral disorders. Social interaction is one of the important aspects in a child's life, but children with delinquency often experience obstacles in establishing social relationships due to emotional and behavioral disorders they experience. This research uses a quantitative approach with the Single Subject Research (SSR) method of A-B-A design. The subject in this study was a child who was in the Children's Correctional Facility (LPKA) Class II Bandung. The data collection technique uses an observation sheet of social interaction aspects consisting of two indicators, namely social contact and social communication. The results showed an increase in social interaction scores from the baseline 1 phase (A1) to the intervention phase (B), and stabilized in the baseline 2 phase (A2) even though the intervention had been stopped. These findings indicate that Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is effective in improving the subject's social interaction skills, both in the aspects of social contact and social communication. As a result, CBT can be one of the alternative approaches that can be applied to help children with delinquency, especially in LPKA Class II Bandung, in developing adaptive social skills and supporting their social functioning.
