Abstract
Matematika dasar merupakan salah satu kemampuan yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif, salah satunya melalui stimulasi konsep pola. Pola memiliki konsep sebagai suatu urutan yang berulang, dapat berupa angka, warna, objek, suara, bentuk, hingga gerakan. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran, mengingat minimnya media khusus yang dapat menstimulasi konsep pola pada anak usia 4-5 tahun serta rendahnya motivasi belajar anak. Penelitian bertujuan mengembangkan, pembuktiaan validitas, menguji efektivitas dan menguji kepraktisan media pembelajaran Busy Box “Pattern Explorer” dalam mengenalkan konsep pola matematika pada anak usia 4-5 tahun di Lembaga PAUD. Media ini dirancang berdasarkan tahapan metode Educational Design Research (EDR) dengan pendekatan yang menyenangkan, interaktif, dan sesuai dengan tahap perkembangan kognitif anak pada tahap praoperasional menurut teori Piaget. Hasil pembuktian validitas oleh validator ahli materi memperoleh 90% dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”, hasil dari validator ahli media memperoleh skor 74% yang menyatakan kategori “Layak”. Penelitian melibatkan 10 anak usia 4-5 tahun yang mengikuti pembelajaran menggunakan media ini dalam tiga pertemuan berkala. Hasil uji efektivitas menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan anak mengenal pola, dengan rata-rata N-gain sebesar 0,46 (kategori sedang). Selain itu, penilaian kepraktisan oleh kepala sekolah dan guru wali kelas menunjukkan skor 84%, ang mengindikasikan bahwa media ini mudah digunakan dan mampu meningkatkan partisipasi anak. Temuan ini mendukung penggunaan media pembelajaran interaktif yang sesuai dengan perkembangan anak untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika secara konkret dan menyenangkan. Rekomendasi diberikan untuk pengembangan media dengan variasi tema yang lebih luas serta penelitian lanjutan dengan sampel yang lebih besar. -------- Basic mathematics is an essential skill that can enhance cognitive abilities, particularly through the stimulation of pattern concepts. Patterns are understood as sequences that repeat and can involve numbers, colors, objects, sounds, shapes, or even movements. This study was conducted to develop a learning media, considering the limited availability of specialized tools that effectively stimulate pattern recognition in children aged 4-5 years, as well as the low motivation for learning among this age group. The research aimed to develop, validate, test the effectiveness, and assess the practicality of the Busy Box “Pattern Explorer” learning media in introducing mathematical pattern concepts to children at a PAUD institution. The media was designed following the stages of the Educational Design Research (EDR) method, employing an engaging, interactive approach aligned with the cognitive development stage of children in the preoperational phase, as described by Piaget’s theory. Validation by content experts resulted in a 90% score, categorized as “Highly Feasible,” while media experts rated it at 74%, indicating it is “Feasible.” The study involved 10 children aged 4-5 years who participated in three scheduled learning sessions using this media. Effectiveness testing revealed a significant improvement in the children’s ability to recognize patterns, with an average N-gain score of 0.46, classified as moderate. Additionally, practicality assessments by the school principal and class teacher yielded a score of 84%, suggesting that the media is user-friendly and successfully increases children’s engagement. These findings support the use of interactive learning media tailored to children’s developmental stages to enhance their concrete understanding of mathematical concepts in an enjoyable manner. It is recommended that future development expand the media’s thematic variety and that further studies involve larger sample sizes to confirm its effectiveness across broader contexts.
