Abstract

Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya self disclosure pada remaja terutama bagi peserta didik SMP. Self disclosure merupakan salah satu keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal dan kompetensi interpersonal yang sangat berguna dalam berinteraksi sosial dan menjalin hubungan interpersonal. Penelitian bertujuan memperoleh gambaran umum self disclosure peserta didik Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lembang dan mendeskripsikan perbedaan self disclosure peserta didik berdasarkan jenis kelamin. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara acak (random sampling). Sampel penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lembang tahun ajaran 2014/2015 yang berjumlah 182 peserta didik dari 384 peserta didik. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan secara umum self disclosure peserta didik berada pada kategori tinggi dan terdapat perbedaan self disclosure antara peserta didik laki-laki dan perempuan dengan kecenderungan berada pada kategori tinggi. Temuan penelitian dijadikan dasar untuk menyusun rancangan layanan bimbingan kelompok untuk meningkatkan self disclosure peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lembang. Kata kunci: self disclosure, peserta didik, jenis kelamin. The background of this research is the importance of self-disclosure for adolescents, especially junior high school students. Self-disclosure is one of the interpersonal communication skills and interpersonal competence which is very useful in social interaction and interpersonal relationships. The research aims to obtain an overview of SMP Negeri 1 Lembang eighth graders’ self-disclosure and describe students’ self-disclosure differences in terms of sex. The approach used in this research is quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The sampling technique used is random sampling. The samples are 182 students out of 384 who are the eight graders of SMP Negeri 1 Lembang in 2014/2015 academic year. The results show that in general, students’ self-disclosure is at high category and there are self-disclosure differences between male and female learners which tend to be in the high category. The implication is to arrange the guidance services to improve SMP Negeri 1 Lembang eighth graders’ self-disclosure. Keywords: self disclosure, students, sex.
