Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah perbandingan yang ditinjau dari gaya kognitif Field Dependent dan Field Independent. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes dan wawancara. Instrumen tes yang digunakan adalah intrumen GEFT dan soal tes kemampuan penalaran matematis. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari enam orang siswa, yaitu tiga siswa dengan gaya kognitif Field Dependent (FD) dan tiga siswa dengan gaya kognitif Field Independent (FI). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada kelas VII dan VIII salah satu SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, bahwa hasil capaian kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dengan gaya kognitif FI lebih baik dibandingkan siswa dengan gaya kognitif FD dalam menyelesaikan masalah perbandingan. Siswa dengan gaya kognitif FD mampu memenuhi empat indikator penalaran matematis dengan cukup baik, diantaranya mengajukan dugaan, melakukan manipulasi matematis, menyusun bukti serta memberikan argumen untuk mendukung kebenaran solusi, dan menarik kesimpulan dari pernyataan yang ada. Akan tetapi, siswa tersebut kurang mampu untuk memenuhi indikator penalaran matematis memeriksa keabsahan jawaban atau argumen. Sementara itu, siswa dengan gaya kognitif FI mampu memenuhi seluruh indikator penalaran matematis pada penelitian ini, termasuk memeriksa keabsahan jawaban. This study aims to examine the mathematical reasoning ability of junior high school students in solving proportional problems reviewed from Field Dependent and Field Independent cognitive styles. The methods used in this study were tests and interviews. The test instruments used were the GEFT instrument and mathematical reasoning ability tes. The subjects of the study consisted of six students, namely three students with Field Dependent (FD) cognitive styles and three students with Field Independent (FI) cognitive styles. This study was conducted in grades VII and VIII of a State Junior High School in Bandung Regency. The results of the study showed that the achievement of mathematical reasoning abilities of students with FI cognitive styles was better than students with FD cognitive styles in solving comparative problems. Students with FD cognitive styles were able to fulfill most of the indicators of mathematical reasoning, such as submitting conjectures, carrying out mathematical manipulations, and compiling evidence, but were lacking in checking the validity of the answers. Meanwhile, students with the FI cognitive style are able to fulfill almost all indicators of mathematical reasoning, including checking the validity of the answers.
