    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh temuan peneliti mengenai keterampilan sosial peserta
    didik yang masih rendah dalam pembelajaran IPS terutama pada aspek bekerja sama
    dengan baik, kontrol diri, kemampuan berkomunikasi dan menyampaikan pendapat.
    Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan keterampilan sosial peserta
    didik melalui Model Problem Based Learning dalam pembelajaran IPS. Penelitian ini
    dilakukan di kelas VII-G SMPN 17 Bandung dengan menggunakan metode penelitian
    tindakan kelas dari Kemmis dan Mc.Taggart dengan menggunakan konsep spiral yang
    didalamnya mencakup perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Dalam penelitian
    ini teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dengan menggunakan lembar observasi,
    catatan lapangan, wawancara. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu teknik analisis
    deskriptif kualitatif terhadap data yang didapatkan dari catatan lapangan, lembar observasi
    dan perhitungan data hasil penilaian peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS. Penelitian ini
    dilakukan sebanyak 4 siklus dan mengalami peningkatan setiap siklusnya. Hasil penelitian
    menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan keterampilan sosial peserta didik melalui Model Problem
    Based Learning dalam pembelajaran IPS mengalami peningkatan yang dinilai dari
    penilaian setiap indikator dalam pembelajaran IPS yang menunjukkan peningkatan
    sehingga mampu mencapai target kategori penilaian yang diharapkan oleh peneliti. Dengan
    demikian berdasarkan hasil yang didapatkan dalam setiap siklusnya dapat disimpulkan
    bahwa penerapan Model Problem Based Learning dapat meningkatkan keterampilan sosial
    peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS di kelas VII-G SMPN 17 Bandung dengan rata-rata
    tingkat keberhasilan sebesar 79,3%.

    This research was motivated by researchers' findings regarding students' low social skills
    in social studies learning, especially in the aspects of working well, self-control, ability to
    communicate and express opinions. The aim of this research is to describe improving
    students' social skills through the Problem Based Learning model in social studies
    learning. This research was conducted in class VII-G SMPN 17 Bandung using the
    classroom action research method from Kemmis and Mc.Taggart using the spiral concept
    which includes planning, implementation, observation and reflection. In this research, data
    collection techniques were used using observation sheets, field notes, interviews. The data
    analysis technique used is a qualitative descriptive analysis technique for data obtained
    from field notes, observation sheets and data calculations resulting from student
    assessments in social studies learning. This research was carried out in 4 cycles and
    experienced an increase in each cycle. The results of the research show that the
    improvement in students' social skills through the Problem Based Learning model in social
    studies learning has increased as assessed by the assessment of each indicator in social
    studies learning which shows improvement so that they are able to achieve the assessment
    category targets expected by the researchers. Thus, based on the results obtained in each
    cycle, it can be concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning model can
    improve students' social skills in social studies learning in class VII-G SMPN 17 Bandung
    with an average success rate of 79.3%.
