Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh keresahan pada kualitas kompetensi lulusan SMK yang belum memenuhi standar di lapangan, sehingga lulusan tersebut sulit mendapatkan pekerjaan yang sesuai dengan bidangnya atau gagal menjalankan usaha swasta, sehingga dirasa perlu untuk mengevaluasi penerapan Higher Order Thinking Skills dalam proses pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa terutama pada produk belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menjawab pertanyaan yang telah dirumuskan, yaitu: “Sejauh mana implementasi kurikulum program produktif berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skills di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan pada Kompetensi Keahlian Multimedia berhasil meningkatkan kompetensi produk belajar siswa?”. Secara khusus masalah tersebut dirumuskan sebagai berikut: (1) Bagaimana kompetensi guru terkait Higher Order Thinking Skills dalam merancang kegiatan pembelajaran yang berdampak pada kualitas produk belajar siswa?; (2) Bagaimana pengelolaan pembelajaran yang berpusat pada Higher Order Thinking Skills dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menghasilkan produk belajar yang kompleks dan kreatif?; dan (3) Bagaimana hasil produk belajar siswa yang menerapkan Higher Order Thinking Skills? Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian evaluasi iluminatif. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa studi dokumen, observasi, dan wawancara. Pengujian digunakan dengan menganalisis data dan mengkode data. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMK Program Keahlian Multimedia Kelas XII di SMK Pasundan 3 Kota Bandung. Teknik dalam menentukan subjek dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Dengan demikian subjek yang akan digunakan pada penelitian ini ialah 83 siswa. Kemampuan guru dalam mengajukan pertanyaan terbuka sangat penting untuk merangsang siswa berpikir kritis dan mengembangkan solusi kreatif dalam proyek multimedia. Dengan memberikan umpan balik yang konstruktif, guru dapat membantu siswa meningkatkan kualitas produk multimedia mereka dan mengembangkan pemahaman yang lebih dalam tentang konsep-konsep multimedia. Kurikulum produktif multimedia yang efektif harus dirancang untuk mengembangkan HOTS siswa melalui proyek-proyek yang menantang dan bermakna. Pengembangan HOTS pada kurikulum multimedia dapat dicapai dengan memberikan siswa kesempatan untuk memecahkan masalah kompleks, membuat keputusan, dan berkolaborasi dalam tim.
This research is motivated by the concern over the quality of vocational high school graduates' competencies, which have not met the standards required in the field. As a result, these graduates find it difficult to obtain jobs that match their field or fail to run private businesses. Therefore, it is deemed necessary to evaluate the implementation of Higher Order Thinking Skills in the learning process to improve students' abilities, especially in their learning products. The objective of this research is to answer the following question: " To what extent does the implementation of a productive curriculum based on Higher Order Thinking Skills in Vocational High Schools with a Multimedia major succeed in improving students' product competencies?" Specifically, the research questions are: (1) How does teachers’ competence in Higher Order Thinking Skills, as reflected in their instructional design, impact students’ learning outcomes? (2) How does learner-centered instruction focused on Higher Order Thinking Skills enhance students' ability to produce complex and creative learning outcomes? and (3) What are the results of students' learning products that apply Higher Order Thinking Skills? This study takes a qualitative approach, specifically using the illuminative evaluation method. Data was collected through document analysis, observation, and interviews. Data analysis and coding were employed to analyze the collected data. The research population consists of twelfth-grade students in the Multimedia program at SMK Pasundan 3, Bandung. The technique used to determine the subjects was purposive sampling. Consequently, 83 students were selected as the subjects of this study. A teacher's ability to ask open-ended questions is crucial in stimulating students' critical thinking and fostering creative problem-solving in multimedia projects. By providing constructive feedback, teachers can help students enhance the quality of their multimedia products and develop a deeper understanding of multimedia concepts. An effective multimedia production curriculum should be designed to develop students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) through challenging and meaningful projects. The development of HOTS in a multimedia curriculum can be achieved by providing students with opportunities to solve complex problems, make decisions, and collaborate in teams.
