Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan peserta didik dalam membaca permulaan di tingkat sekolah dasar, yang berperan penting sebagai keterampilan dasar dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran dan penguasaan ilmu pengetahuan. Kurangnya media pembelajaran berbasis teks yang menarik dan efektif menyebabkan banyak peserta didik kurang termotivasi dan mengalami kesulitan membaca. Pengembangan pop-up book berbasis kecerdasan emosional, diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan. Media ini tidak hanya menyajikan teks, tetapi juga ilustrasi visual yang interaktif sehingga menarik minat peserta didik. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengembangan pop-up book berbasis kecerdasan emosional, mendeskripsikan kelayakan validasi pop-up book berbasis kecerdasan emosional, mendeskripsikan respons pengguna terhadap pengembangan pop-up book berbasis kecerdasan emosional, dan mendeskripsikan keefektifan pop-up book berbasis kecerdasan emosional terhadap keterampilan membaca permulaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Design and Development (D&D) dengan model Richey & Klein menggunakan Product and Tool Research dengan tipe Tool Development & Use. Prosedur penelitian terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu analysis, design, development, dan evaluation. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, angket, kuisioner, dan tes. Analisis data menggunakan analisis data kualitatif, kuantitatif, dan uji t. Pop-up book berbasis kecerdasan emosional dikembangkan menggunakan aplikasi Adobe Ilustrator dan website Freepik untuk mencari elemen desain. Hasil uji kelayakan pop-up book berbasis kecerdasan emosional menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata keseluruhan hasil modus dari ahli materi, ahli bahasa, dan ahli media sebesar 4 dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”. Respons dari guru dan peserta didik menunjukkan respons sangat baik dengan rata-rata keseluruhan hasil modus sebesar 4 dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”. Pengujian media ini menunjukkan hasil signifikasi uji one sample t-test yaitu 0,044 < 0,05. ----------- This research is motivated by the low ability of students in beginning reading at the elementary school level, which plays an important role as a basic skill in supporting the learning process and mastery of science. The lack of interesting and effective text-based learning media causes many students to be less motivated and have difficulty reading. The development of pop-up books based on emotional intelligence is expected to be a solution to improve early reading skills. This media not only presents text, but also interactive visual illustrations, thus attracting learners' interest. Therefore, this study aims to describe the development of pop-up book based on emotional intelligence, describe the feasibility of validating pop-up book based on emotional intelligence, describe user responses to the development of pop-up book based on emotional intelligence, and describe the effectiveness of pop-up book based on emotional intelligence on beginning reading skills. This research uses the Design and Development (D&D) method with the Richey & Klein model using Product and Tool Research with the Development & Use Tool type. The research procedure consists of four stages, namely analysis, design, development, and evaluation. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, questionnaires, questionnaires, and tests. Data analysis used qualitative, quantitative data analysis, and t test. Pop-up book based on emotional intelligence was developed using Adobe Illustrator application and Freepik website to find design elements. The results of the feasibility test of pop-up book based on emotional intelligence show that the overall average of mode results from material experts, linguists, and media experts is 4 with the category “Very Feasible”. Responses from teachers and students showed a very good response with an overall average mode result of 4 with the category “Very Feasible”. This media test shows the significance of the one sample t-test which is 0.044 <0.05.
