Abstract

Membaca permulaan merupakan sebuah fondasi dalam literasi, sedangkan minat baca merupakan investasi jangka panjang dalam membangun kebiasaan membaca. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi rendahnya minat baca siswa akibat kurangnya motivasi, meskipun membaca rutin dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kemampuan berpikir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dan perbedaan media permainan Kakartu Sekata terhadap minat dan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa SD. Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi-eksperimen dengan desain The Matching-Only Pre-test-Post-test Control Group Design, melibatkan siswa kelas I di kedua sekolah yang berada di Kabupaten Bandung. Rata-rata Pre-test dan Post-test minat membaca kelas eksperimen adalah 21,5 dan 31,6, meningkat 10,1 poin. Rata-rata Pre-test dan Post-test kemampuan membaca kelas eksperimen adalah 70 dan 88, meningkat 18 poin. Nilai Post-test minat membaca dan kemampuan membaca kelas kontrol lebih rendah dibanding kelas eksperimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media permainan Kakartu Sekata berpengaruh signifikan dalam mengembangkan minat dan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa SD. ------- Early reading is a foundation of literacy, while reading interest is a long-term investment in building reading habits. This study was motivated by the low reading interest of students due to a lack of motivation, despite regular reading being able to improve knowledge and critical thinking skills. The purpose of this research was to determine the influence and differences of the Kakartu Sekata game media on students' interest and early reading skills in elementary school. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with The Matching-Only Pre-test-Post-test Control Group Design, involving first-grade students from two schools in Bandung Regency. The average pre-test and post-test scores for reading interest in the experimental class were 21.5 and 31.6, an increase of 10.1 points. The average pre-test and post-test scores for early reading skills in the experimental class were 70 and 88, an increase of 18 points. The post-test scores for reading interest and early reading skills in the control class were lower than those in the experimental class. The results of the study indicated that the Kakartu Sekata game media significantly influenced the development of students' interest and early reading skills in elementary school.
