Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengatasi berbagai permasalahan dalam membaca awal yang ditemukan pada siswa kelas 1 SD. Permasalahannya siswa kesulitan mengidentifikasi bunyi fonem individual pada awal kata (phoneme isolation), kesulitan menambah atau mengganti huruf pada kata tertentu (phoneme manipulasi), kesulitan membedakan huruf yang mirip seperti “b dan d”, “m dan w”, dan “i dan l” (alphabet knowledge), kesulitan mencocokkan kata dengan bunyinya berdasarkan pilihan kata yang tersedia (phonics), dan ketidakmampuan membedakan gambar, kata, dan huruf (print awareness). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis pengaruh metode modeling read aloud dan membandingkannya dengan metode SAS. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain quasi eksperimen jenis The Matching-Only Pretest-Post-test Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 20 siswa kelas I-B Sekolah x dan kelas I-B Sekolah y. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai Pre-test pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 6,85, sedangkan rata-rata Post-test mencapai 12,95. Dengan demikian, keterampilan membaca awal siswa kelas eksperimen meningkat sebesar 89,05% yang termasuk dalam kategori sangat efektif. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pemodelan membaca nyaring berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan keterampilan membaca awal di Sekolah x. Selain itu, terdapat perbedaan hasil Post-test antara kelas eksperimen (12,95) dengan kelas kontrol (12,25). Nilai signifikansi (p dua sisi) sebesar 0,001 lebih kecil dari 0,05 sehingga hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak. Dapat disimpulkan, terdapat perbedaan keterampilan membaca awal antara siswa kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol setelah diberikan perlakuan. ---- This study was conducted to address various problems in early reading found in grade 1 of elementary school. These problems is difficulty identifying individual phoneme sounds at the beginning of words (phoneme isolation), difficulty adding or replacing letters in certain words (phoneme manipulation), difficulty distinguishing similar letters such as "b and d", "m and w", and "i and l" (alphabet knowledge), difficulty matching words with their sounds based on the available choices (phonics), and inability to distinguish pictures, words, and letters (print awareness). The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the read aloud modeling method and compare it with the SAS method. The study used a quasi-experimental design of the Matching-Only Pretest-Post-test Control Group Design type. The research sample consisted of 20 students from grade I-B Sekolah x and grade I-B Sekolah y. The results showed that the average Pre-test score in the experimental class was 6.85, while the average Post-test reached 12.95. Thus, the initial reading skills of students in the experimental class increased by 89.05%, which is categorized as very effective. This shows that modeling read aloud has a significant effect on improving initial reading skills at Sekolah x. In addition, there was a difference in the Post-test results between the experimental class (12.95) and the control class (12.25). The significance value (two-tailed p) was 0.001, less than 0.05, so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Thus, there was a difference in initial reading skills between students in the experimental class and the control class after the treatment was given.
