Abstract
Pengembangan pendidikan karakter merupakan kunci utama dalam menghadapi berbagai tantangan pembelajaran di Indonesia, termasuk kesulitan memahami materi, kondisi lingkungan belajar yang kurang kondusif, dan kurangnya kemandirian siswa. Minimnya pembentukan karakter siswa selama proses pembelajaran juga menjadi perhatian utama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi masalah-masalah tersebut melalui integrasi pendekatan STEM dalam modul pembelajaran yang dirancang untuk menginternalisasi karakter Wasaka (Waja Sampai Kaputing) pada siswa kelas V SDN Sungai Miai 5 Banjarmasin. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari Analize, Design, Develop, Implement, dan Evaluate. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, angket, dan tes hasil belajar dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas V di SDN Sungai Miai 5 di Banjarmasin. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi lembar observasi, angket, dan tes hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa desain modul yang dikembangkan mengintegrasikan pendekatan STEM dengan karakter Wasaka, dan telah terbukti sangat valid melalui hasil validasi yang mencakup aspek materi, media, bahasa, dan praktisi, serta sesuai dengan kebutuhan pembelajaran di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini juga mengungkapkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam karakter Wasaka siswa, yang terlihat melalui perubahan positif dalam aspek religius, kemandirian, tanggung jawab, dan ketangguhan, yang tercermin dalam observasi dan angket self-assessment. Peningkatan ini tidak hanya tercermin dalam hasil akademik, tetapi juga dalam perubahan perilaku siswa yang lebih menunjukkan komitmen yang mengindikasikan proses internalisasi karakter yang semakin kuat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa modul pembelajaran terintegrasi STEM tidak hanya efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar, tetapi juga berhasil menginternalisasi dan memperkuat karakter Wasaka siswa. The development of character education is the main key in facing various learning challenges in Indonesia, including difficulties in understanding the material, less conducive learning environment conditions, and lack of student independence. The lack of student character building during the learning process is also a major concern. This study aims to address these issues through the integration of the STEM approach in a learning module designed to internalize Wasaka (Waja Sampai Kaputing) character in fifth grade students of SDN Sungai Miai 5 Banjarmasin. The research approach used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model consisting of Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and learning outcomes tests with research subjects of fifth grade students at SDN Sungai Miai 5 in Banjarmasin. The instruments used include observation sheets, questionnaires, and learning outcomes tests. The results of the study indicate that the developed module design integrates the STEM approach with the Wasaka character and has been proven to be highly valid through validation results covering aspects of material, media, language, and practitioner feedback, as well as being in line with the learning needs of elementary schools. This study also reveals a significant improvement in the students' Wasaka character, which is evident in positive changes in aspects such as religiosity, independence, responsibility, and resilience, reflected in observations and self-assessment questionnaires. This improvement is not only seen in academic outcomes but also in changes in student behavior, which demonstrates greater commitment, indicating a stronger process of character internalization in daily life. This suggests that the STEM-integrated learning module is not only effective in improving learning outcomes but also successful in internalizing and strengthening the Wasaka character of the students.
