Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengembangkan desain pembelajaran project based learning (PjBL) berbasis education for sustainable development (ESD) pada topik minyak bumi untuk melatih literasi sains peserta didik. Dasar penelitian mengacu pada metode Design and Development Research (DDR) dengan 4 fase, yaitu: (1) Fase analisis; (2) Fase design; (3) Fase Pengembangan; dan (4) Fase Evaluasi. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa lembar survey pendahuluan dan lembar pedoman wawancara guru, lembar validasi, lembar obeservasi keterlaksanaan, dan lembar soal literasi sains terkait topik Minyak Bumi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) secara umum adanya kebutuhan pembelajaran yang dapat menunjang literasi sains pada peserta didik SMA; (2) desain pembelajaran dan soal literasi sains menunjukkan bahwa desain dan soal yang telah direview dan divalidasi terdapat beberapa kesesuaian dalam beberapa aspek disertai beberapa perbaikan. Saran dan perbaikan meliputi, perbaikan kalimat, menambahkan grafik informasi terkait penurunan cadangan minyak bumi, memperbaiki situasi pembelajaran, merapikan bagian aspek literasi sains, dan menambahkan tujuan pembelajaran; (3) setelah proses pembelajaran dilaksanakan terdapat beberapa hambatan seperti, kesulitan dalam mencari energi alternatif pengganti bahan bakar minyak bumi, kesulitan dalam mencari tahapan proses pembuatan energi alternatif dengan benar, kesulitan dalam melakukan percobaan dan peserta didik awalnya kebingungan menghubungkan prespektif SDG’s dengan kesimpulan proyek yang dikerjakan, dengan bantuan atau antisipasi pendidik 89% peserta didik memperoleh skor >75; (4) Peserta didik menunjukkan kompetensi literasi sains yang baik dalam menjelaskan fenomena ilmiah sebesar 71,11%, menginterpretasikan data dan bukti sebesar 64,44%, serta mengevaluasi dan merancang penyelidikan sebesar 62,22%. This study was conducted to develop a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) design based on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for the topic of petroleum, aimed at fostering students' science literacy. The research was grounded in the Design and Development Research (DDR) method, which includes four phases: (1) Analysis Phase; (2) Design Phase; (3) Development Phase; and (4) Evaluation Phase. The instruments used comprised preliminary survey sheets, teacher interview guidelines, validation sheets, observation sheets for implementation, and science literacy test items related to the petroleum topic. The results of the study showed the following (1) There is a general need for learning models that can support science literacy among high school students; (2) The learning design and science literacy test items, after being reviewed and validated, were found to have alignment in several aspects but required some improvements. Suggestions and revisions included refining sentences, adding information graphics related to declining petroleum reserves, improving the learning context, organizing the science literacy components, and including clear learning objectives; (3) After the learning process was implemented, several challenges were identified, such as difficulties in finding alternative energy sources to replace petroleum, challenges in understanding the stages of alternative energy production, difficulties in conducting experiments, and initial confusion among students in linking SDG perspectives to project conclusions. With educator support and interventions, 89% of students achieved scores above 75; (3) Students demonstrated good science literacy competencies, including explaining scientific phenomena (71.11%), interpreting data and evidence (64.44%), and evaluating and designing scientific investigations (62.22%).
