Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis cerita bergambar untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas IV Sekolah Dasar yang termasuk dalam fase B di Kurikulum Merdeka. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tingkat pemahaman siswa terhadap materi hak dan kewajiban yang masih rendah. Setelah dilakukan analisis, permasalahan tersebut disebabkan oleh bahan ajar yang kurang menunjang kegiatan pembelajaran. Bahan ajar yang digunakan oleh guru dari segi isi dan desain dirasa perlu ditingkatkan lagi. Siswa kelas IV Sekolah Dasar yang perkembangan kognitifnya berada pada tahap operasional konkret, masih kesulitan memahami informasi yang abstrak, sehingga memerlukan ilustrasi sebagai media visualisasi untuk membantunya memahami informasi atau materi yang disajikan. Pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis cerita bergambar dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode Design and Development (D&D) dengan model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar yang dikembangkan memiliki kategori “Sangat Layak” untuk digunakan, dengan total persentase dari hasil validasi ahli materi, ahli media dan guru sebesar 80%. Selanjutnya, ditemukan adanya peningkatan dari hasil pretest siswa dengan nilai rata-rata 62,3 ke 88,2 pada hasil posttest dengan kategori “Sangat Baik”. Uji N-Gain pada nilai pretest dan posttest siswa menghasilkan nilai 0,88 yang termasuk dalam kategori “Tinggi”. Artinya, setelah bahan ajar berbasis cerita bergambar yang dikembangkan oleh peneliti diimplementasikan pada kegiatan pembelajaran, terdapat peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa yang ditunjukkan melalui hasil belajarnya. This research focuses on developing illustrated-based story teaching materials to improve conceptual understanding of grade 4 elementary school students' who are in the phase B of the Merdeka Curriculum. It was motivated by the students' generally low comprehension of right and obligations concepts. Upon closer examination, it was found that the core issue lay in the inadequacy of the existing teaching materials, which did not effectively support the learning process. The content and design of the materials currently used by teachers were identified as medias needing significant improvement. Grade 4 students, are in the concrete operational stage of cognitive development often struggle with abstract concepts, benefit from illustrations that serve as visual aids to help them grasp the material more effectively. The research employed the Design and Development (D&D) method, utilizing the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) to develop these teaching materials. The results showed that the newly developed materials were rated as ‘Highly Appropriate’ for use, receiving an overall validation score of 80% from content experts, media experts, and teachers. Furthermore, the students' performance improved markedly, with average pretest scores rising from 62.3 to 88.2 in the posttest, which falls into the ‘Very Good’ category. An N-Gain analysis of the pretest and posttest scores yielded a score of 0.88, classified as ‘High’. These findings indicate a substantial improvement in students' conceptual understanding following the implementation of the picture-based story teaching materials, as evidenced by their improved learning outcomes.
