Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh permasalahan yang dialami oleh guru dan siswa dalam mempelajari konsep dasar perkalian. Siswa seringkali kesulitan menjawab pertanyaan ketika diminta untuk menjabarkan perkalian ke dalam penjumlahan berulang. Hal ini disebabkan oleh kurangnya pemanfaatan media pembelajaran oleh guru dalam menyampaikan materi konsep dasar perkalian. Oleh karena itu, peneliti bermaksud mengembangkan media pembelajaran yang dapat membantu guru dalam menyampaikan konsep dasar perkalian. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Design-Based Research (DBR) dengan model Reeves yang dibagi menjadi empat tahapan. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi lembar observasi, wawancara, penilaian ahli, dan angket. Pada tahap pertama, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran yang digunakan oleh guru hanya berupa tabel perkalian yang harus dihafal oleh siswa. Pada tahap kedua, peneliti mengembangkan media pembelajaran berdasarkan kurikulum dan disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan serta karakteristik siswa sekolah dasar. Pada tahap ketiga, media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa mengenai konsep perkalian. Implementasi yang dilakukan di kelas II Sekolah Dasar menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan siswa dalam memahami konsep dasar perkalian. Pada tahap keempat, refleksi yang diberikan berupa respons positif dari guru dan siswa berdasarkan angket yang diberikan terhadap media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan. Respons positif ini ditunjukkan dengan minat yang lebih tinggi dan keterlibatan aktif selama proses pembelajaran. This research is motivated by the problems experienced by teachers and students in learning the basic concept of multiplication. Students often have difficulty answering questions when asked to explain multiplication into repeated addition. This is caused by the lack of utilization of learning media by teachers in delivering basic multiplication concept material. Therefore, the researcher intends to develop learning media that can help teachers in delivering basic multiplication concepts. This study uses the Design-Based Research (DBR) method with the Reeves model which is divided into four stages. The instruments used include observation sheets, interviews, expert assessments, and questionnaires. In the first stage, the results of the study showed that the learning media used by teachers were only multiplication tables that students had to memorize. In the second stage, the researcher developed learning media based on the curriculum and adjusted to the needs and characteristics of elementary school students. In the third stage, the developed learning media proved effective in improving students' understanding of the concept of multiplication. The implementation carried out in grade II of Elementary School showed a significant increase in students' ability to understand the basic concept of multiplication. In the fourth stage, the reflection given was in the form of a positive response from teachers and students based on a questionnaire given to the developed learning media. This positive response was indicated by higher interest and active involvement during the learning process.
