Abstract
Dalam konteks perkembangan remaja, kemampuan mengelola emosi dan memahami diri berperan penting dalam kesejahteraan psikologis. Kemampuan regulasi emosi yang baik idealnya dapat membantu remaja untuk mengatur emosi dan perilakunya dalam menyelesaikan masalah. Namun, fakta lapangan menunjukkan masih ada sebagian remaja yang memiliki strategi regulasi emosi maladaptif. Selain itu, masih kurangnya penelitian yang mengkaji hubungan self-compassion dengan kemampuan remaja dalam mengatur emosi mendorong dilakukannya penelitian ini. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan self-compassion dengan regulasi emosi pada remaja. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode cross-sectional survey. Sampel terdiri dari 215 orang siswa yang dipilih melalui teknik simple random sampling. Hasil penelitian menemukan sebagian besar siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Garut Tahun Ajaran 2023/2024 memiliki strategi regulasi emosi positif, kecenderungan self-compassion pada kateori sedang, dan terdapat korelasi lemah positif namun signifikan antara regulasi emosi dan self-compassion. Ditemukan juga siswa yang masih memiliki kecenderungan regulasi emosi negatif, self-compassion yang rendah dan self-compassion sangat rendah. Untuk itu, penulis merekomendasikan dilaksanakannya konseling individual untuk siswa dengan regulasi emosi negatif dan self-compassion rendah. Penulis juga merekomendasikan guru Bimbingan dan Konseling di sekolah untuk memberikan bimbingan klasikal dan bimbingan kelompok untuk mengembangkan kemampuan regulasi emosi positif dan self-compassion siswa. In the context of adolescent development, the ability to manage emotions and understand oneself plays a crucial role in psychological well-being. The effective emotion regulation skills should ideally help adolescents control their emotions and behaviours when facing some negative experiences. However, field data show that some adolescents still employ maladaptive emotion regulation strategies. Additionally, the lack of research exploring the relationship between self-compassion and adolescents' ability to regulate emotions has prompted this study. This research was conducted to identify the relationship between self-compassion and emotion regulation in adolescents. A quantitative approach using a cross-sectional survey method was employed. The sample consisted of 215 students selected through simple random sampling. The findings reveal that the majority of 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Garut in the 2023/2024 academic year exhibit positive emotion regulation strategies, a tendency toward self-compassion in the moderate category and there was a weak positive but significant correlation between emotion regulation and self-compassion. Additionally, a small percentage of students displayed negative emotion regulation tendencies, low self-compassion, and very low self-compassion. Based on these findings, the author recommends individual counselling for students with negative emotion regulation and low self-compassion. The author also suggests that school counsellors provide classroom guidance and group counselling to foster students' positive emotion regulation skills and self-compassion.
