Self-talk Techniques To Increase Self-compassion With Students Underachievement. meilanitaazharifauzi@upi.edu Students do not escape learning problems at school and are required to be able to solve them. One of the problems in learning is that students are identified as underachieving. Underachievement indicates a condition of losing the goal of achieving, one of the causes of which is low self-compassion towards oneself. Self-compassion can play an important role in students to help shape achievement goals. The purpose of this research on self-talk techniques to improve the self-compassion attitude of students who experience underachievement is to test the effectiveness of self-talk techniques to develop self-compassion in underachiever students. The research approach used is a mixed method with the embedded design. Qualitative data were obtained using a single-subject research design. Qualitative data were obtained using a case study research design. The self-compassion instrument uses the self-compassion scale (SCS) from Kristin Neff which has aspects of self-kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness. The research subjects were three grade XI students at SMAN 11 Bandung. The results of the study showed changes in self-compassion in underachiever students, which were indicated by changes in thinking with new perspectives assisted by self-talk counseling. It was concluded that counseling using self-talk can help improve self-compassion in underachiever students. Keywords: Self-talk counseling techniques, self-compassion, underachiever
