Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh persepsi terhadap harapan orangtua terhadap stres akademik dimediasi oleh fear of failure pada Mahasiswa Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah nonprobability sampling berupa accidental sampling dengan sampel 350 mahasiswa aktif, usia 18-25 tahun, semester 2,4,6 dan 8 serta berkuliah di Kota Bandung. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini kuesioner Living up to Parental Expectation Inventory (LPEI) – (16 item; a = 0,69) oleh Wang & Heppner (2002), Perception of Academic Stres Scale (PASS) – (18 item; a = 0,86) oleh Bedewy & Gabriel, 2015, Perfomance Failure Appraisal Inventory (PFAI) – (24 item; a = 0,94) oleh Conroy (2007). Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis regresi linear dan regresi berganda jalur. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menggunakan uji Sobel untuk menguji hipotesis mediasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) terdapat pengaruh positif yang signifikan pada persepsi terhadap harapan orangtua terhadap stres akademik, (2) terdapat pengaruh positif yang signifikan pada persepsi terhadap harapan orangtua terhadap fear of failure, (3) terdapat pengaruh positif yang signifikan pada fear of failure terhadap stres akademik, (4) fear of failure memediasi penuh pengaruh persepsi terhadap harapan orangtua terhadap stres akademik secara signifikan terhadap mahasiswa Kota Bandung.

This research aims to determine the influence of perceptions of parental expectations on academic stress mediated by fear of failure in Bandung City students. This study uses a quantitative approach. The sampling technique used is nonprobability sampling in the form of Accidental Sampling with a sample of 350 active students, aged 18-25 years, semesters 2,4,6 and 8 and studying in Bandung City. The instruments used in this study were the Living up to Parental Expectation Inventory (LPEI) questionnaire – (16 items; a = 0.69) by Wang & Heppner (2002), Perception of Academic Stress Scale (PASS) – (18 items; a = 0.86) by Bedewy & Gabriel, 2015, Performance Failure Assessment Inventory (PFAI) – (24 items; a = 0.94) by Conroy (2007). The data analysis technique used linear regression analysis and path regression. In addition, this study also used the Sobel test to test the mediation hypothesis. The results of this study indicate that (1) there is a significant positive effect on perceptions of parental expectations on academic stress, (2) there is a significant positive effect on perceptions of parental expectations on fear of failure, (3) there is a significant positive effect on fear of failure on academic stress, (4) fear of failure fully mediates the effect of perceptions of parental expectations on academic stress significantly on students in Bandung City.
