Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh berkembangnya penelitian mengenai children’s wellbeing dan bermain. Banyak faktor yang mendukung kegiatan bermain anak terutama lingkungan. Telah berkembang pula penelitian berkaitan lingkungan bermain dan chidren’s wellbeing di wilayah Barat yang menunjukkan keterlibatan peran lingkungan bermain terhadap children’s wellbeing. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan mengenai peran lingkungan terhadap children’s well being melalui kegiatan bermain anak di Taman Kanak-Kanak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada pendidik dan anak kelompok B di salah satu Taman Kanak-Kanak di Kota Cimahi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu wawancara semi terstruktur, observasi langsung dan studi dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis data grounded theory approach. Temuan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tiga peran lingkungan bermain terhadap children’s wellbeing yaitu adanya peran keamanan lingkungan bermain yang memberikan perasaan aman dan nyaman ketika anak bermain, partisipasi anak di lingkungan bermain yang melibatkan anak untuk berpartisipasi dan memilih alat permainan dan penyediaan lingkungan bermain yang mendukung capaian children’s wellbeing, dan penyediaan lingkungan bermain baik outdoor maupun indoor yang mempengaruhi kebutuhan bermain dan kepuasan anak terhadap lingkungan bermain. Rekomendasi penelitian ini ditujukan bagi pihak sekolah sebagai upaya menyediakan lingkungan di sekolah yang menerapkan capaian children’s wellbeing, bagi pihak orang tua dapat mendukung penyediaan lingkungan di sekolah yang menerapkan capaian children’s wellbeing, bagi pemerintah dapat menerapkan kebijakan yang mendukung capaian children’s wellbeing melalui penyediaan lingkungan bermain, dan bagi peneliti selanjutnya dalam melakukan penelitian yang melibatkan anak berdasarkan kategori yang lebih luas. This research is motivated by the growing interest in children’s wellbeing and play. Many factors support children’s play activities, especially the environment. Research related to play environments and children’s wellbeing has also developed in Western regions, indicating the involvement of the play environment’s role in children’s wellbeing. The main purpose of this research is to provide knowledge about the role of the play environment in children’s wellbeing through children’s play activities in Kindergarten. The qualitative approach with a case study method was used in this research. The research was conducted with educators and children in Group B at one of the Kindergartens in Cimahi City. Data collection techniques included semi-structured interviews, direct observations, and documentary studies. The data obtained were then analyzed using the grounded theory approach. The findings of this study indicate three roles of the play environment in children’s wellbeing: (1) the presence of a safe and comfortable play environment provides a sense of security and comfort for children during play, (2) children’s participation in the play environment involves them in decision-making and choosing play equipment, and (3) the provision of play environments, both outdoor and indoor, influences children’s play needs and satisfaction. Recommendations from this research are directed towards schools to support the provision of play environments that apply children’s wellbeing principles. Additionally, further research involving children based on different categories is suggested.
