Abstract

Fenomena intoleransi di kalangan siswa kelas V Sekolah Dasar menjadi masalah besar karena intoleransi yang dibiarkan sejak dini memudahkan penyebaran radikalisme. Rendahnya kognitif dan sikap toleransi akan semakin buruk kondisinya jika dibiarkan saja. Masalah ini semakin rumit ketika tidak ada program khusus pencegahan radikalisme pada masa sebelum dan saat pandemi, serta pendidikan karakter kurang optimal di masa pandemi. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui realitas radikalisme di kalangan siswa, realitas model empirik, pengembangan model keteladanan simbolik berbasis e-comic, dan keefektifan model tersebut dalam membangun karakter toleransi untuk pencegahan radikalisme. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: intoleransi siswa berbentuk kekerasan verbal, fisik, dan psikis terjadi sehingga berpotensi mudahnya penyebaran radikalisme; model empirik belum sesuai dengan dimensi meaning (expression, experience, selective elaboration, dan rule, logic atau principle); model keteladanan simbolik dikembangkan dengan melibatkan e-comic mulai dari fase attention, retention, motivation, sampai fase motor reproduction, serta e-comic berisi cerita yang biasa dijumpai siswa seperti perbedaan agama, suku, pendapat, keinginan, dan kemampuan; model ini efektif menanamkan karakter toleransi pada level informasi dan cukup efektif pada level sikap; kognitif dan sikap toleransi di kelas eksperimen meningkat secara signifikan dan menurun secara signifikan di kelas kontrol. Model keteladanan simbolik berbasis e-comic relevan dengan dimensi meaning sehingga ketujuh indikator toleransi muncul dalam diri siswa yang meliputi kemampuan mengendalikan diri, berpikiran terbuka, menerima zero tolerance, bersikap kritis dan positif, tidak mudah menghakimi, berprasangka baik, serta menjunjung nilai setara, peduli, dan adil. Kata Kunci: e-comic, intoleransi, model keteladanan simbolik, radikalisme, toleransi The phenomenon of intolerance among grade V elementary school students is a big problem because left unchecked intolerance will facilitate the spread of radicalism. Low cognitive and tolerance conditions will get worse if not treated. This problem becomes even more complicated when there is no special program to prevent radicalism, and character education is less than optimal. This study aims to know the reality of radicalism among students and the empirical model, the development of symbolic modeling based on e-comic, and the effectiveness of this model. This research uses Research and Development. The results of this research: student intolerance in the form of verbal, physical, and psychological violence occurs so that it has the potential to spread radicalism easily; the empirical model is not yet relevant to the dimensions of meaning (expression, experience, selective elaboration, and rule, logic or principle); the symbolic modelling was developed by involving e-comics, starting from the attention, retention, motivation, and motor reproduction, e-comics contain stories that students commonly encounter, such as differences in religion, ethnicity, opinions, desires, and abilities; this model effectively instills tolerance at the information level and is quite effective at the attitude level; cognitive and tolerance attitudes in the experimental class increased significantly. The symbolic modelling is relevant to the dimensions of meaning so that the seven indicators of tolerance appear in students, which include the ability to control themselves, be open-minded, accept zero tolerance, be critical and positive, not easily judge, not easily suspicious, and uphold equal, caring, and fair values.
