Abstract
Academic resilience is an ability that students need to face and recover from difficult situations and achieve optimal learning achievement by utilizing internal and external strengths. Students with high academic resilience will show positive learning performance and attitudes, while low academic resilience has a negative impact on the learning process, academic resilience is one of the urgent studies in guidance and counseling. The study aims to test the feasibility of self-instruction technique group guidance to develop the academic resilience of junior high school (SMP) students. The research approach used is a quantitative approach with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent group quasi-experimental research design. The research population was grade VIII students at one of the state junior High Schools in Bandung City. The research sample consisted of 16 people divided into two experimental and control groups with the same number of members. Analysis of research data using non-parametric statistical tests, namely the Mann-Whitney U Test and Cohen's d test. The research findings showed differences in pretest and posttest scores between the experimental and control groups so that self-instruction technique group guidance can be used to develop the academic resilience of students.
