Abstract

ABSTRAK Kompetensi yang harus dicapai oleh siswa SMA/ MA/ SMALB/ PAKET C berdasarkan Permendikbud No. 21 Tahun 2016 tentang Standar Isi Pendidikan Dasar Menengah pada muatan fisika, butir (3) yaitu “Menganalisis konsep, prinsip, dan hukum mekanika, fluida, termodinamika, gelombang, dan optik serta menerapkan metakognisi dalam menjelaskan fenomena alam dan penyelesaian masalah kehidupan”. Pada butir (3) diatas disebutkan bahwa siswa harus mampu menganalisis konsep, prinsip, dan hukum pada fisika, yang mana kemampuan-kemampuan tersebut termasuk kedalam kemampuan kognitif. Sehingga kemudian, kemampuan kognitif menjadi salah satu keterampilan yang menjadi aspek penting dalam proses pembelajaran. Namun berdasarkan hasil studi pendahuluan yang dilakukan di salah satu SMA di Bandung dengan menghimpun nilai Penilaian Akhir Semester (PAS) dan wawancara dengan guru fisika, diketahui kemampuan kognitif siswa masih rendah. Strategi Writing To Learn diprediksi dapat meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penerapan strategi Writing To Learn dalam meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif siswa pada materi kalor. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode Pre-eksperimental. Desain penelitian ini adalah One Group Pretest-Posttest. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI di salah satu SMA di Bandung. Partisipan penelitian ini berjumlah 30 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah soal pilihan ganda berjumlah 14 butir soal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan kognitif siswa dengan menggunakan strategi Writing To Learn dengan nilai <g> 0,70 berada dalam kategori tinggi. Strategi Writing To Learn berdampak pada peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dengan nilai effect size 4,1 berada dalam kategori sangat tinggi. Dengan demikian, penerapan strategi Writing To Learn dinilai efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif siswa pada materi energi kalor. Competencies that must be achieved by SMA/ MA/ SMALB/ PAKET C students based on Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 21 of 2016 concerning Content Standards for Primary and Secondary Education on physics content, point (3), namely "Analyzing concepts, principles and laws of mechanics, fluids, thermodynamics, waves and optics as well as applying metacognition in explaining natural phenomena and solving life problems". In point (3) above, it is stated that students must be able to analyze concepts, principles and laws in physics, which abilities are included in cognitive abilities. So then, cognitive ability becomes one of the skills that is an important aspect in the learning process. However, based on the results of a preliminary study conducted at a high school in Bandung by collecting Final Semester Assessment (PAS) scores and interviews with physics teachers, it is known that students' cognitive abilities are still low. The Writing To Learn strategy is predicted to improve students' cognitive abilities. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing the Writing To Learn strategy in improving students' cognitive abilities in heat material. This type of research is quantitative research with Pre-experimental methods. The design of this research is One Group Pretest-Posttest. The population in this study were class XI students at a high school in Bandung. There were 30 participants in this research. The instrument used in this research was multiple choice questions totaling 14 questions. The research results show that there is an increase in students' cognitive abilities by using the Writing To Learn strategy with a value of <g> 0.70 in the high category. The Writing To Learn strategy has an impact on increasing cognitive abilities with an effect size value of 4.1 in the very high category. Thus, the application of the Writing To Learn strategy is considered effective in improving students' cognitive abilities in heat energy material.
