Abstract

------------- Learning in the 21st century requires students to have high motivation, self-efficacy, and critical thinking skills. However, some students experience difficulties in this regard, especially in learning science. The use of technology such as augmented reality (AR) has the potential to overcome these problems. AR can create an interactive and engaging learning experience, thus increasing students' motivation, self-efficacy, and critical thinking skills in learning science. This research uses Richey & Klein's design and development to develop augmented reality (AR) media on animal morphological adaptation material. The procedure includes needs analysis, design, development, and evaluation. Data were collected from various stakeholders (designers, developers, evaluators, clients, instructors, learners, organisations/institutions) using instruments namely questionnaires, and tests. Data processing was done quantitatively using SPSS 27. AR media for animal morphological adaptation was designed for grade 6 students of SDN Tanjungsari I, based on Android with a PBL approach. The main features include interactive 3D models, quizzes, and audio-visual information. Development involved collaboration with multimedia students, using Unity, Blender, EasyAR, and Figma. The media aims to increase students' learning motivation, self-efficacy, and critical thinking skills through interactive visualisation and virtual experience, opening a new dimension in science learning at primary school level. This research produced an effective AR media for learning animal morphological adaptation. The feasibility test showed positive results from material, media, and learning experts. Teacher and school responses were very enthusiastic. The use of AR media is proven to increase students' learning motivation, self-efficacy, and critical thinking skills. Technology acceptance from instructors (teachers from other schools) has a positive correlation. The impact of this augmented reality media development encourages the digital capabilities of both teachers and students and helps schools create an interactive and innovative learning environment.
